We woke up this morning to find a blanket of snow over everything outside. So we had some breakfast and went outside in the snow, we even got to walk on the frozen river. The lights, music and decorations were wonderful but also clouded by the flags at half mast - in honor of all the shooting victims in Connecticut.

We had a great day seeing family, experiencing Christmas, and enjoying our time together.

... number 3 was my life long friend Amy. We'd grown up living 30 seconds away from each other, and the thought of not being able to walk to each others houses anymore was unreal. I stopped by one last time and the small talk that had taken place in the previous two goodbyes came back again. But this time, to my surprise the tears didn't come. I realized later that it was because Amy and I have the kind of friendship that could never be tainted by distance. We both knew we 'd see ...
