... were some interesting sites along the way. Like the wind turbines along I80 in Illinois that were highlited by storm clouds. But we thought better about slowing down on the freeway.
Yea, we drove the freeway today, but not tomorrow. All back roads to Lincoln tomorrow so we should have some shoots to share. Mike and Sandy
Ok, well, I'm not sure I can call it day 2 cause it all rolled into on long trip.
We saw lots of interesting stuff. Just kept driving and not sleeping much. Stopping to pee and for Sassy to pee too! Eating alot of ****... and driving, and driving!!
... one cool thing about Davenport is that it lies right on the border of Iowa and Illinois, which is separated by the Mississippi River.
On a side note, we have been listening to several books on tape during our long car rides. We just finished "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler, and we are now listening to
"The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown.
... homes, a marina full of fishing boats, and one of the biggest collections of rollercoasters in the USA. Admittedly I was there at 8am on a Saturday so it was unlikely to be busy but...pretty run down.
Journey proper has been along I-80 all day - through Toledo, into Indiana, past Chicago without even seeing it through the smog and then just when I was thinking "I'll be there in time for tea", worst nightmare - engine starts misfiring and lost power on a very long, straight and ...
We drove from 11 to 11, and just made it passed the mississippi into Iowa. I drove and Vanessa snapped the pictures through our bug splattered windshield.
Earlier, as Vanessa was following me from Erie to Ashtibula to drop off the kittens, she said that my lights were'nt working so well, especially my turn signalls. i checked, they were faint but they definately worked ...
Nothin' but road. Eastern Nebraska and most of Iowa is great farm country but boring to drive through. 603 miles in 11 hours, did great. About 374 left for tomorrow. We passed a Google car today, eastbound on I-80 just west of NE exit 168. must watch for their entry, we may be on it.
Geneseo, Illinois, United States 7x70on66First full week out here on the set of The QC. It was an early morning starting out at three in the morning and getting here at seven and then working a ten hour shift. Yah, so three more weeks of this...this...this thing. Hopefully. I guess there is a deadline the first of April so I'm just working towards that. The motto is, "For Kings and Company". Yah.
Rock Island, Illinois, United States gildo... I can get home in good time so that I can pack for the trip to Cancun that Danielle and I are leaving for on Sunday. I'll be back here at the Rock on Friday, staying the night and heading back Saturday again next week. That is fine by me, that is six hours of drive time that I'll put on my timesheet AND mileage! Ha!
Rock Island, Illinois, United States gildoCar ride home was uneventful. I just wanted to add this one to finish my Trip up. I'd been traveling for 28 hours from the time that I left the Hostel at 4 in the morning. And I gained a day on the way back. Anywho, trying not to be very jet lagged and get back into the routine of school next week. Thanks for following along with my travels. Cheers!
