Opened a fortune cookie last week, and this is what it said! Getting ready for a pleasant journey to Alaska with my parents and aunts and uncles, we leave from Baker, Oregon on Sunday, June 28! Working this week to get packed up - planning to take my old guitar and new bicycle so that I can ride sections of the ALCAN highway and into Alaska. Next Sunday I join mom and dad, Gary and Neeta, and Joe and Wilma (Johnsons) as we head out from Baker, Oregon north to British ...

... s, just like home. I anticipate rain the majority of the time we're there- which suites us just fine. Rain keeps things green, which is my favorite color.

Some highlights for the trip (and many more not listed):

        • Beer
        • Game of Thrones Tour, which includes a full day of awesomeness visiting sites where the show was filmed from Dublin to Belfast (we get to go to Northern Ireland!). Options include dressing in character ...

When our desserts come we enjoy those as well and discuss our plans for the rest of the day. “We should go to the Birds of Prey ...

... to be in Boise at the same time as the Western Idaho State Fair. We haven't been to a state fair in years and neither had Ben and Lisa. Collectively we decided that this was the time to renew our acquaintance with fair food, baked goods exhibits and farm animals. Ben started us off with a Bloomin' Onion and there was no stopping from then on. We had Finger Steak (deep fried steak pieces which seem to be a local thing since we had never seen nor heard of them before), ...

... to live there. We were especially interested in riding our bikes on the Boise River Greenbelt and stopping downtown to check out their Alive after Five Wednesday night concert series. As we drove in Corey was disappointed when he realized the rv park he booked was further away than we thought from the stuff we were interested in.
