Nicely appointed studio room. Quiet neighborhood. Good "soup and sandwich" supper.

      Oops! Wrong Vulcan!

Tomorrow we arrive in Atlanta (Lord willing!), so today we had a leisurely morning and didn't leave Jackson, MS, until after 11am. We drove to Birmingham, checked into our hotel (very nice - more frequent hotel points from Dan's Lockheed days), then drove up to Vulcan Park. It was very interesting; I'd never heard of …

Yes, we are finally on our way -- after months of planning! We left Vermilion on Sunday, March 15th, and had a beautiful drive south on I-65 through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. The further south we got the more green we started seeing -- spring is definitely coming! Do you hear that Vermilion! The cats didn't even mind the long drive to Huntsville, AL where our fifth wheel trailer was stored. Our first stop ...

Menu Item: Big Bad Breakfast Skillet with a Buttermilk Pecan Pancake on the side

Notes: I had them leave the Big Bad Bacon out of the skillet and put it on the side so I could taste it by itself. The skillet has ham, sausage, onions, hash, & 3 scrambled eggs all tossed together and topped with cheese.

Comments: This was the best breakfast I’ve ever ...

... parking garages while we are out of town. For this trip, Andy dropped me off with the luggage at the station and parked his car at his office building and walked back to the station. Another viable option would be to take a cab to and from the station if you didn't want to leave your car downtown longterm.

For the train ride, I packed a little cooler with drinks, sandwiches and snacks. We ate, watched videos on the iPad and relaxed in ...

Last minute decision to hit the road!

A travel blog entry by abarnes on Dec 27, 2014

We were set to leave early Sunday morning on a road trip to celebrate Andy's birthday in Charleston. We reserved the Andrew Pinckney Inn as well as Circa 1886 for Andy's birthday dinner. The only thing we hadn't settled on was a walking tour of Charleston. We like to do city tours on the front end of our visit to get the lay of the land and information on certain sites in case we want to revisit. The tour guides ...
