We were all up early again this morning. It was a clearer day than when we arrived yesterday. We put on our hiking boots and headed towards Flat top mountain, in Chugach State Park. The garmin took us near the mountain but not quite right, so we back-tracked a bit and got to the right trailhead a few minutes later.

The trail starts out …

Seattle to Anchorage

A travel blog entry by chuckjeanfl

Well, this wasn't a very adventurous day. The primary goal today was to travel from Seattle to Anchorage. We had a midday non-stop flight, just under 3 hours. A bit delayed but otherwise uneventful. The Anchorage airport was surprisingly nice. It looked fresh, nice art pieces and colors, and easy to get around. We all got checked in at the hotel ( …

We met Larry Locksmith at LAX.  Had breakfast and boarded our plane.  Got to Anchorage, picked up our rental car and checked into the hotel.  We had a two bedroom townhouse reserved but the didn't have it so they gave us two one bedroom suites for the same price.  We dropped off our bags and headed out for dinner.  The …

The other day I heard someone say, "We only know what we know." Then I heard someone else say it and then I heard it again. It was as if a message was being communicated to me from beyond. I've heard that old adage many times, but had never really slowed down enough to focus on its meaning. My first thoughts focused on the cognitive sciences. I …

So nice to be in one place for 3 nights that has blackout shades and an indoor swimming pool even though the pool was closed when we arrived

    Awesome digs in Anchorage

In all of my travels, this is one of the best hotels I've ever experienced. They provide an awesome hot breakfast and a very nice evening meal (Monday thru Thursdays). I have stayed there twice over the last three years, both for extended periods. There were many of the same staff members that were working there for both visits. A wonderful hotel with a wonderful staff. A must stay when visiting Anchorage.
