... I knew Birmingham was an iron producing city, but I didn't realize that all the ingredients for iron - iron ore, coal, and limestone - are all present in Birmingham. If you come to Birmingham, I recommend you come see the statue and the museum, if you have the time. If you were wondering, Birmingham no longer produces iron and steel. Like the other major steel producing cities in the US, that production has ceased.
