    Departing

Tried out Uber to the airport, really pleased. Checked in online for US Airways and found out that was really, really good. Zipped through the ticket line and security in record time. Then - two hours to while away the time. Landed in Philadelphia without a problem and made our connection. 8 hours and 15 minutes later landed in ...

... town, we warmed up easily as we walked down through the narrow alleys to the beach, checking into a few fashion and souvenir shops on the way. The main beach was only about 300 metres long but it was a great spot to be, there were heaps of restaurants along the front and free toilets and changing sheds at one end, usually you would have to pay at least €1 to use public toilets. Phil - I am getting good at getting luggage down stairs. I still get a sweat up, but seem to ...

This past weekend we experienced our much-anticipated excursion to southern Italy. After an exhausting train ride to Naples, an angering taxi ride (where our driver dropped us off at the wrong place and begged for a tip), and scenic ferry ride to Sorrento, we finally arrived at our hostel. After settling in, we took yet another mode of transportation by using the bus to get to the small coastal town of Positano. The 45 minute bus ride included weaving around mountains on ...

... Once again more of the same in Amalfi except for their beautiful cathedral that is a monument to the town's early days as a naval power. We had a stroll up the valley away from the clothing, ceramic and souvenir stores and the food outlets past groves of lemon trees to the Valley of the Old Paper Mills. We returned to Positano and Villa Yiara for afternoon tea on the balcony and a glass of wine. Our hostess, Imara, has gone a little overboard with the hospitality during our stay. ...
