This is the story of the trip that nearly didn't happen due to my extreme tiredness the day before I left (and perhaps the pint of cider that I'd had after playing 2 and a half netball games). Anyway, I ended up setting my alarm clock for the time that I wanted to leave the house rather than the time I needed to be awake...so I left the house at 8am 'expecting' to be able to get to Waterloo station (about 30 minutes away) in time to check in for my 8.40 train 30 minutes before departure....As...

Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France inea34... Climbing up and up the roughly cobbled path you get a feeling of imposing grandure from the massive structure towering above. Walking along fortified walls strung with archer keys I couldn’t help but imagine I was a medieval maiden. (And to help with this fantasy, the nearest shop sells period clothing for both you and your partner!). Cruising through the streets my imagined past was crushed by the tapas bars and screaming children. I ...
Vic-la-Gardiole, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2totango... I was stuck without internet for the week though, so I could not look up the phone numbers for delivery services (yes, they do exist in France; they even got Domino's). But I got by just fine and I had a great time. I was only a 5 minute walk from the Tram that took me into town. There, I'd walk around the city, go see creepy Korean vampire movies, and meet up with old friends. I spent most of the week with my old friend Clement, which ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France jdcabanel... BUT the info we got for the campsite was wrong and it was closed.. and the one next door too. We were exhausted by then so fell into bed and decided to give up on that part of France and head to Lyon the next day...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France emmasadventures... full of flavour. For the second course I had a seafood dish and Alison had a beef stew on mashed potatoes (looked very simple but Alison said it tasted "Divine!"). My seafood dish had a variety of shellfish in their shells, and other seafood, and was delicious. Our desserts were a mousse made with raspberries, and soft meringues floating in thin custard (the descriptions do not do these dishes any justice at all).

The cost had ...

Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France cerise... and Brian as our navigators we decided to walk down Esplanade Charles De Gaulle, which runs along a beautiful garden space and contains many of the cities tourist attractions. Next, we walked to the Antigone area, which was built in the late 1980's. It was built on the Greek style and has many places dedicated to their Gods. We enjoyed a replica of winged victory at the end of the huge plaza. Some of the ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France naslund13... American music too, a lot of Enrique and Avril, and really bad 80s music everywhere. There are four McDo's in Montpellier, at least two Sylvan learning centers, 3 Subway Sub shops, and a Cafe Route 66. Plus they sell about 6 different kinds of frozen fries and hamburgers at every grocery store. Why in the world would you eat frozen fries and burgers when French food is about three trillion times better?
Montpellier, France ashleyelizabeth... lanes, and saw the amphitheatre and the garden where van Gogh painted. Had lunch then back on to the motorway to Montpelier where the stress started. Couldn't find the station easily, and when we did we couldn't find the rental car return. Drove the wrong way up a one-way street to unload, then had to back up through traffic lights. Literally had to go all the way through town and back around to get to the station again. It took 45 minutes in a traffic ...
