... Salvatore grows oranges, lemons, figs and onions and we were sent off with a bag of these when we left the next morning..... lovely hospitality. From what we saw, Calabria is like the South Coast in the 80s: sugar cane growing on the side of the road, sea sand on the road, low ugly architecture. In fairness, we didn't go to the beach, but of all the places in Italy, I wouldn't rush back there as I find it ...

... on our travels someone telling us that when dealing with Italian bureaucracy it takes so long as they tell you to keep coming back "next week"!! We got photos of the mammals flag and outside the window into the Piazza. He then described Carmen de Patagones Argentina where many Mammolese people had settled. It was only later when I wasgoing through the booklets that I saw his title and googled it. He was the Mayor of the town!! We ...

... souvenirs and panini for our fritters and headed to the montania. Again the roads were narrow, winding and steep. We found a spot to eat and the farmer came out to see what we were doing. Next stop the cemetery for nearly 2 hours. We saw graves of people who had names of people who settled into Biloela. Rinaldis, Zangari, Zavaglia, La Rosa, Ardonato, Scali, were all there. We then drove in the direction of Giosica Ionica and had a cornetto at a local shop. As we ...

... next day we drove to Isola with clear directions on how to get there. Don found a barber which took 45mins for a cut and at least 5 fellas came in for a chat to the barber while he was there. We got mistaken for German tourists by a well dressed gentleman who directed us to an illy coffee place. It was lovely. I went to the Farmicia by myself to get some allergy tablets and after signing, role playing etc We understood each other. We were the only foreigners in town. When we ...

... so I had to open the car door and reached to get it grhhh! We stopped at Canosa during siesta time. Before we could reach it we had to pay for the use of the road so far. €10 later we got into town. It is very stressful going into towns when you don't know where you are going. A trip including a lunch break needs 1 1/2 hours. The bar we stopped at had heaps of men coming in standing at a bar and having an espresso with aqua. Don ordered lunch mine was ...
