... He had been camping with his brother in Spain and was now returning to Lyon where he lived. This time I did not look out the window the whole ride to Lyon because I was interested in practicing my french and talking with this guy. We talked about music and life all the way to Lyon and when he got off we exchanged info.
Now I sat back and relaxed because I had another five hours to go on the train til Geneve. As we went rambling down the track, I ...

Milan, Lombardy, Italy frdrick... hill to the Volta Lighthouse. If it wasn't for the foggy view we would have had a great panoramic view of Lake Como and it's surrounds.
After walking back down to Como we caught the bus out to Belaggio which is at the furthest point on the lake. Town was completely dead. a couple of cafes and post card shops open and that was it!
Some nice ...
... even after all of the churches I've seen on this trip.
Went to the famous La Scala, but we couldn't go inside as they werehaving a rehearsal at the time and unlike the Vienna Opera House couldn't get cheap standing tickets for a performance and wander freely around the inside at the same time.
Wandered around town and stopped at what turned out to ...
... thank god for Thailand and all it's dodgy rip off's!). Missed out on seeing Leonardo Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' painting, as all the viewing sessions were sold out, but as I mentioned to Tiff at the time, "I'll take Beckham, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Maldini any day over J.C. and all his mates having some reef & beef and a bag of goon". No offence intended. Anyway, caught the metro and made it the ground and picked up the tickets without any issues. Got a ...
Milan, Lombardy, Italy tiffscott... was really nice seeing our grandparents Dangi and Pops who live in Sydney again. They travel around the world a lot like we do, so we saw them before in London and that was really great too. When we settled down we went to a place called Biffis for lunch. It was one of the most expensive meals we have had on this entire trip, and the lunch was really nice. I has gnocchi and Pops had fresh tomatoes. After that we went to a ...
Milan, Lombardy, Italy chalmersfamily... get it and you have to book in advance (Just call them)
Strong reco ... it you are in Milan plan to watch a football match. Otherwise headout to a lake nearby in Alps and stay there for the night.
If none of this is possible, than please go to Milan before you head anywhere else in italy. It will make the trip better and more worthwhile.
Hey... note all of above is subject to you not going to Milan for shopping...
... I would like to mention. In most places there is no such thing as free water and you must order mineral water costing 1-2 Euro. Also, the waiter does not automatically bring you your bill. You must ask for it, sometimes twice. I believe that is a product of the relaxed social atmosphere instead of the American dining experience of eating as fast as possible and always being in a rush. Finally, in Italy there is a 2 Euro cover charge for dining in at ...
Milan, Italy worldtraveller9... We turned away and looked at each other promising not to speak English for a while. We saw a sign that the street we were on was named after Giuseppe Verdi and low and behold, Teatre alla Scalla, the famous Opera House was not too far away. Everything in Milan was quite close, through that courtyard, we came to the Vittorio Emanuelle Mall which led to Piazza del Duomo. As uncomfortable as everything was yesterday we could find things today ...
Milan, Italy matthewjcohen... Later in the afternoon we checked out the Pinacoteca di Brera. Nearby we found some good shopping streets. I still wear many of the clothes I bought here to this day, and never get tired of people asking me 'Where did you buy that?' 'Oh I got it in Milan....' Hehe. The final night we asked the hotel (near the Pirelli Towel designed by Gio Ponti) we we could find some 'milanese cucina tipica' as we had had difficulty finding ...
