Lungo Mare Trieste Roseto Degli Abruzzi, Abruzzo, Italy
This was it. This was where we said goodbye to the van that had been our home for months! We got a nice little hotel with breakfast included since all the campsites were closed. We packed up everything and threw out most of our pantry which annoyingly included our ketchup and mayo which we needed to buy again in Aussie. We folded up the sheets a...

Off the ferry and onto the A14 Autostrada, once we found it..
With a scribbled map of where my aunties house was we headed into the village of Francavilla. After a couple of laps around the village i decided to ring the house and Uncle & Aunty came and picked us up.
It was great to spend the next 6 days with my long lost co...
They say that a lifetime isn't enough for Rome, and perhaps its true. If one were to spend a lifetime exploring the city, half that time would be spent in a queue or looking for parking. There just isn't enough Rome to go around; even now in December, the tourist horde is almost unbearable. I didn't see half of what there is to see, but I leave ...
Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy jmckerricherSix hour train from Venice to Pescara. Nice ride along coast but this is a beach town with not much open in October. In addition, when we questioned the hotel clerk about sightseeing he immediately replied that most of the town was bombed in World War II and not rebuilt. Only stayed one night on the way to Naples and the highlight was a great meal!
Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy pathengerAnyway, the next day we set off for the seaside. The drive was 6 hours, and spending that long in a car with the kids...nearly drove me insane!! Italian kids are very...loud, whingy, selfish, spoilt and cry for no reason. Which I guess reflects from the way the parents bring them up, and I'm happy to say I am glad Mum and Dad weren't typical Ita...
Tortoreto, Abruzzo, Italy ilovetheworldSaturday 28th... Not much to say... Anything is expenentially boring when directly compared with Rome. It is the last day of Febuary and I feel like my two month trip needs to end right on the 1st of March. Which is when we are flying out, tomorrow. I felt like a chapter of my trip was over when Carrie left. I am sad to report that I just want t...
Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy tissnsevenHello to all.... First, so sorry about the lack of pictures, we now have access to a computer but it's having some trouble allowing us to download photos. I know that that is one of the best parts so we'll try and get on it as soon as possible! (Everything is in Italian on the computer though so you have to give us credit for trying : ) ) yeah w...
Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy jasondcriswellFrom the hills of Umbria we headed back toward the east coast and the hills of Le Marche. The area we were staying in was peppered with little towns across every hilltop. We had an apartment in a town called Monterubbiano with gorgeous views across the surrounding countryside. We stayed in this area predominantly to visit a town called Fermo wh...
Teramo, Abruzzo, Italy ioanaAs we travelled up the east coast we were amazed at the obvious differences to the south of Italy. The buildings looked nicer, the towns looked more prosperous and the countryside seemed prettier. It really felt like we had crossed a border into another country - perhaps Switzerland. We headed off the freeway through Teramo, which has a lovely ...
