We woke up pretty early today as we had to get the bus to La Spezia at 8:07. We all did some last minute packing, checked out and got on the bus. It was a shortish ride but the bus dropped us a good ten minute walk from the station, so we frantically oriented ourselves and got going. We stopped briefly for a pastry each on the way and ended up making it to the station in good time. We ran into Michael on the platform, who was going to marseille but had to get the same train as ...

... finish line as you do and visited the pits to take photos and have a taste of race fever. We of course spotted the Casino, how can you miss it? A lovely walk up the hill took us to the older part of town and the palace. We saw the church where Princess Grace was married, the beautiful palace and the stunning views over the city from here. This is only the beginning.

... we were approached by two young French men and us girls were able to practice our French and they practiced their English. It got to the point where we couldn't wait any longer and wanted to explore Wayne's bar next door as we had been advised too. It was buzzing with a live band and mainly full of Irish Americans and English so we can't wait to go back tomorrow night after a few drinks at the apartment ...

... walked back down through the streets marvelling at the hotels, casino and the size of the cruisers in the harbour below. It was very hot by this stage so after having our fill of envy as we drooled over the magnificent luxury boats we caught the Bateau Bus (poor man's transport) back across the wharf to where the tenders were starting to take passengers back out to the ship. Back on board we went and had a cool drink before coming back to or cabin to change for ...
