A few weeks ago now , we decided that we needed to seek out the last bit of summer sunshine we exiled ourselves to Italy's version of Rottnest .....Isola d'Elba

Elba is just off the Tuscan coast and is Italy’s third-largest Island. Ronaldo meandered west from Panicale, across Tusany , to the coast and we all popped onto one of those ginormous ferries from Tuscany's Piombino Port and an hour later arrived at Portoferraio Port ,Elba's biggest ...

We have ...

Stuffed. Pooped. Really tired. Yesterday took it out of us and we are happy to sleep in. Breakfast at 8.30. We take a passeggiata to the top of the town, past the wall and its magnificent arch to a cafe under a loggia just outside the walls, which we know from previous experience is good. On the way we visit a church, a cloister and our favourite museum. The Fondazione Museo Santa Cecilia, Collezione di organi antichi is in the top level of ...

... Pretty amazing views of the coastline, lots of yachts moored all alone in their own private spots. The sea was the beautiful green colour you would expect the Mediterranean to be. Dinner was served on the patio, overlooking the sea. A funny set up with waiters hovering all the time, serving us the meal we ordered when we first arrived. Not particularly nice food but an interesting experience. Prosecco for ...
