... stalls, and all sorts of festivities into the wee small hours. Our kids ran around through the party like mad things. They begged us to buy them balloons and plastic rubbish (which we did) and danced on one of the stages before we packed it in and went home to bed. Sitting here alone at 11pm listening to a beautiful aria waft in from the festival. Punctuated by the usual strident Italian voices of this place, it seems a world away from Yarraville. ...

... of Cefalu worth mentioning is the beach just down the road. Tourist town means clean town in Sicily and that extends as far as the beach. We found the little space left between all the sun lounges for those of us too stingy to pay to go to the beach, laid out our towels and had a great swim. ... dog **** lying around on the footpaths, or as they turn a blind eye to all the litter. Its disgusting and we wonder if we can cope for three weeks. The beaches are equally fowl but Gaetano assures us that the wind of the last few days has whipped up a bit of the mess. The hot spot for activity this morning is the fish market. ... the bus that afternoon, so we had to all meet in the bar to hear the results. Bruno nearly answered all the questions with little help from me, as I am not a very good listener. We were the winners! And scored a prize of a box of pastiche from the pasticciera in Cefalu.
