Residence Champs De Mars

We loved our stay at this lovely little residence. Located on a pedestrian street it was nice to be able to walk without cars. An excellent bakery and a series of coffee bars are located nearby. It s a very safe neighborhood and well lit at night.
The staff at this hotel were great, our room was very clean with service everyday. We did not try the breakfast room as it was quite small and very busy and we were happy to just grab a coffee close by. I would certainly stay here again and I would recommend this to anyone looking for some local charm.

I went there nearly every day for the CÚzannes and to see the Manets and the Monets and the other Impressionists that I had first come to know about in the Art Institute at Chicago. I was learning something from the painting of CÚzanne that made writing simple true sentences far from enough to make the stories ...
Our last full day in Paris. The plan today was to firstly slip down to the corner boulanger for brekkie (our hotel's breakfast is expensive & ****), then tootle off to FNAC to buy some tickets for a concert this evening and search for a French CD for Sue. Obviously, Galleries Lafayette was due for another hiding too!
Somewhere along the way I was hoping to track down this pair of "blue suede shoes" that have eluded me thus far ...
... and meeting place, Fontaine Saint Michel. All I know about the fountain is from wikipedia ;) , since the guide didn't talk about it. It is huge, close to 100 feet high, built by 9 different sculptors in less than 3 years, out of different colored marble (unusual for Paris), and the last wall fountain (on the end of a building when the plaza was expanded) in Paris. I'm no art student, but appreciated the skill of those who created most of the sculptures we saw.
... with a ring neck but was larger than a pigeon and didn't have the nose crest of a pigeon. It didn't have that iridescent colouring either. He told me it was a pigeon. Vraiment? He looked at me as if I were an idiot. Why couldn't I recognize a pigeon? It was different I say! He had no English and I had run out of words and courage to continue. I am pleased that I still have people confusing me with French speakers. It is a small thing but it amuses me. 13000 steps ...
