    17th August A long journey to Venice and we were on off again deciding whether or not to do the motorway when the Beast decided for us. There was a noise that didn't sound too good and Kerry knew we had a flat tyre but it was shredded by the time we found a safe place to stop.     ... which was once the cathedral - no pics allowed - but incredibly ornate in terms of its fresco and interior. Found a fantastic restaurant too for lunch which was a bonus, which had a lovely garden and we had a really good meal, topped off with a superb pistachio and ameretto dolce which Dad and I loved !!!!! On the way home we stopped off at Burano to see the multi-coloured houses and lace making ...

    ... with ourselves for not wasting food, when I stopped to calculate what the Italians next to us had consumed. A bottle of prosecco, a fried seafood platter, 2 large bowls of pasta, a large piece of tiramisu, 2 espressos and a grappa. For lunch!! And they finished every last bite. Nate and I would've been hard pressed to eat all that at dinner! Anyway, it was the best pizza of the trip so far and although we don't usually take food pics we did this time ...
