Lyon with Lis

... the UK. When I arrived Lis had cooked me an amazing 3 course french-themed dinner! I was so spolit by her the whole time I stayed, actually. It was so nice to see an old friend and completely relax in her company.

The next day I got up with Lis, who had to go in to university fairly early for classes. I headed to the Musee de Beaux Arts, via some great shops and a stop for a hot chocolate which came in a little jug and was so rich and dark I couldn't finish it! The museum was ...

The many mysteries of life

... I mean I know I have been kept out of it for the most part but it still affects me without my being able to control it). I have decided to NOT deal with most of what’s going on, primarily because I already had a mental breakdown last year and really need to hold off on the next one (JOKE). No but I just CANT deal with it right now. I absolutely cant, so I put it upstairs in the closet and I see it when I open the closet (call home) but when I ...

I think I have gotten past the initial honeymoon phase, then the culture shock which is followed by homesickness and now I am living and enjoying. Whether it’s a Saturday night out with the friends or Saturday night in with the family right now is mon vie en France and attend of the year I will return home to my friends, family, love and my country.

twenty-one reasons

... was my birthday. It was because of the people around me who made it matter.

While I was getting ready for the day I got a call from Mom, Dad and Jimmy. Hearing from Mom and Dad is irreplaceable. Of course you want birthday wishes from everyone, but no one says it and means it like mommy and daddy do. I heard I love you from Jimmy and after I got off the phone I walked downstairs to make a café where I found a little drawn cake from Virginie ...

You never grow old on the inside

... last two dinner parties were later than my usual 11 o clock bed time. I enjoyed champagne with aperitifs and then we moved to the dinner table where wine was opened. Two of the men that were there were as obsessed with wine as Michel so there were several bottles of super expensive wine. I drank a wine that was bottled just months after I was born, that’s crazy! Of course dinner was excellent as always and I was thinking I ...

Going north now...

... overly familiar, informative and easy going. Thankfully, fully under control re the tears so not a patch on my last day at VocaLink (I await with interest as to who takes over the water feature of the 2nd floor since my departure!) I have promised to return (if they have availability) with Ann, my sis-in-law who would just love it at Canto Cigalo and the lavender fields in full bloom. It's a date for July, and I would be really interested ...

Touring Lyon

... do after the museum, but I wanted to know where the bus stop was so we could plan our timing. Armed with totally inadequate maps we walked and walked and walked and got tired and irritated and finally I gave up and announced I was going to the museum. Well, the bus stop was next to the side entrance of the museum. Duh! So I spent some tme in the museum and Ed had a coffee nearby. The poster of Monet's turbulent sea is ...
