... along the promenade that seems to run all the way between the towns and villages. There plenty of birds about, cormorants, ducks, coots and some little grebes on the water, black birds, robins, pied wagtails, yellow wagtails and of course pigeon and sparrows on the banks. After our walk we prepared tea only to find the hob wouldn't fire up, we tried a second time but it still refused to work! We found out the camping ...

Trento is a surprise package. A city of approx 120 000 based on education and finance this city is located on the river Adige, a major trading route with Europe in earlier time, and completely surrounded by snow covered mountains. Spectacular.
We left Colfosco on a near perfect day and as I think I mentioned we travelled north to almost the Austrian border and then south to Trento. ...

... Very interesting and took a few photos of the town and surrounding countryside. We then drove to another small hilltop town of Montechiello. We stopped and walked around this very clean town and had lunch at the restaurant Vittorio recommended called La Porta. Jen had pasta but I had beef cheeks in a red wine sauce with potato mash, lovely. Went home to ready ourselves for the next leg South towards Calabria and Alborobello, see you in about a ...

      Without such a rush
today and the weather being a bit wet, we walked back to the ferry
jetty to catch a boat to Desanzano to the west and on the southern
shore. This was another larger town with a marina again. The
weather just was not inviting today and put a dampener on our walk
around the town. We enjoyed a coffee in a pedestrianised street but
decided not to wait for a later ferry but to return to Sirmione on
      the ...

      With loads to pack into
the day, we set off early to catch the first fast ferry of the day.
In fact, we were early for breakfast and had to wait for the
restaurant to open. The walk into town had been described as two
kilometres, however as the time went by and it looked increasingly as
though we would not make the sailing time, it was obvious that it was
over two miles from the hotel. Our first impression of Sirmione as
we arrived at the medieval city gates ...
