... away (and farther downhill) then necessary because we didn't do our homework and tried to be spontaneous. We did one of these alpine slides ('bobsled' is the popular operator in Hungary) near Visegrád in the hills north of Budapest and had fun, this one was a little steeper and involved a ride up on the ski lift, but I think everyone who tried it had fun. Then it was onwards to the castle.

... make a small intricate piece of lace so it was always sold to the wealthy, or passed down from generation to generation as a family treasure. Nowadays most lace making is done in factories by machine, but Burano uses it's history of making lace to focus on that as a tourist attraction.

... that Min goes on a Gondola before we go, and it must be the right Gondola.  She is not riding on one of those dilapidated ones with the bashed in seats.  It must have one of the royal seats with the gold frills and the intricately and ornately carved hull.  We visit two different spots (far away from the tourists in the grand canal) to hunt for the exact boat.  Min spots one and now we must time the line ...

Every step I walked and every house I saw was a surprise.
How lively and wonderful to look at these houses everyday.

I love this place. Not because it is near the water city center, not because it is adjacent to the glass island, Murano. Simply because it is a happy and lively little island.
