The descents were frightening and bloody cold, especially from the top of Col de Beau Plan with visibility at about five metres above 1000m. It was a bit of a shock when a deer darted out in front of me. I had my full winter gear on and it was barely enough.
We are off for dinner soon in St Michel then tomorrow two TDF climbs are on the agenda.

actually it was probably some of the nicest hiking we have ever done - stayed in some lovely hotels and mountain refuges, ate amazing food each day, good wine each night!

Today the plan was to ride three or four cols, well that was the plan, the weather had other ideas.
I set off at 5.30am with just a light drizzle and if you have seen today's stage of the TDF you would know it became progressively worse.

Tomorrow I climb the Col de L'Arpettaz a climb full of hairpins and a little known gem down towards Albertville.
Rain is forecast so it could be interesting.
Today was a rest day and we slept in until 10am. I actually felt pretty good after all that riding and only had some sore muscles here and there. After dragging our butts out of bed, we wandered around town to find a cafe to get a coffee and a bite to eat but came out empty handed.
