... and yes, the mountains are impressive.
As we didn't want to take Frankie too high into the alps, we chose a campsite at Lausanne on Lake Geneva. It is known as Lac Leman by the locals. The first day we went to the lake to have a look. The water was clear, blue and very clean. Apparently it has not always been like it and in the 1960's it was too polluted to swim in. When you stay ...

Katrina and I rode the ski lift up to the top of the mountain - something much more disconcerting when there's a fifty foot drop onto a concrete carpark rather than lovely soft looking snow. Apart from a bunch of mountain bikers we had the place to ourselves, and it was a lovely day.

... deal but yesterdays heat took a lot out of us both. Just like yesterday there were an obscene number of cars on todays climb. With no shoulder on a narrow steep road I wasn't able to get in the euphoric zen like state that draws me into riding my bike up mountains. Unfortunately I'm starting to realize why a lot of people haven't done tours in this area.

After a little more than an hour and a half we were at the top. With little motivation to continue on we sat at a cafe at ...
