Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. We saw the ...

Brianšon is the highest city in France, at 1,326 m. Our hotel, 'Le Temple' is ...

... been more apt). Interesting fact of the day is it takes about 6 minutes to soft boil an egg in Aussois because the water boils at a lower temperature at altitude.

Because the proprietor skis in winter and so cycles in summer to keep fit, he had a track pump! I got very excited about being able to get the tyres to 100psi (7 bar) for the first time on our tour - they were only inflated to about 60psi - how much faster we could have gone uphill!

The last night in Lyon we spent with the mother/ Pia, of a French girl, Chloe, who stayed with us recently. We dined in a tiny traditional bouchon that she had sought out. Her son and girlfriend joined in the fun - especially called on for their good English; Mireille was in her element conversing with the mother in French. The meal of many dishes was sensational and we were humbled by Pia insisting on paying for us all. We left there in heavy rain which made a comical ...
