Today we had a 20.1km climb at 5.5%. It was overcast but thankfully the rain held off until we were arriving at the campsite. Our SPOT tracker has died today, so unfortunately shows us still in Guilestre! We plan to carb load now as have a huge day tomorrow up the Cime de la Bonette (2802m), a 23.1km climb at 6.5%. Yikes. Also saw our first sign to the finish line in Nice ...

Thankfully once over the top there was a little cafe where we hid for a while drinking hot chocolate and eating ham and cheese omelettes. We made it safely back to the valley where it was glorious sunshine and we laid everything out to dry. Phew. An exhausting ...

Distance: 52km Cumulative distance: 3416km Best Convenience: hot cappuccinos at Col de L'Izoard Riding conditions: too many flies. Weather: wet, cold, then cloudy. Top of 10 degrees at the Col, 14 degrees at Guillestre Elevation gain: 1150m We awoke this morning to rain pouring down outside. Bugger. The nice weather is over. Time for more Alps weather!
