    What a day ! We drove 90mins to Lac Aiguebelette and had a wonderful day. By chance we were able to wander into the athletes area and cruised around all their tents. Just like a Sunday picnic, except, stationery bikes, kids paddling pools and rowing boats everywhere. We tracked down the Kiwi's and quickly took a photo and moved on. We watched the activity on the athlete's screen, went and saw the boats being weighed and really felt part of the action. ...

    ... and help one another and none of us sure of sizes!

    We ate a casual dinner on the way back to the hotel, followed by gelato, and commented our different the less-crowded town appeared than the crowded day before. Chamonix is always one of our favorite places, and we were excited to be there for the race hub-hub, but it is better to view it as normal with the bustling shops and restaurants.

    ... We returned back to town for the finish of the 100k race because a New Zealand Woman, Ruth Croft, was in the lead. We had a great place in the finishers shute and gave Ruth our Silver Fern Flag. Ruth crossed the line with the flag and held it up high for the photos with the male winner. We were so proud of her. ...

    ... and we got a short but sweet taste of the amazing rock that lies in that part of the world. It's hard to explain until you climb on it, but it's so solid and sticky that climbing on it feels very safe(and fun!). The rain and clouds came back after two nights in the Cosmiques Hut, and the drizzle indicated it was time for us to start moving on.
