... We settled into the well appointed though slightly small room than last night though we do again have a stunning view over the small village looking to a distant mount with small but distinct flecks of remaining snow. Spain rocks. We found a small and vibrant bar for a late arvo, refreshment and were perfectly served by the most amiable tri-language waiter (though whose English was minimal). He was however able to teach me some new Spanish words namely - caña - for ...

Cabin on the mountain

Awoken early by absolutely nothing - pure silence not even a breath of air, this cabin is indeed in a tranquil place high in the mountains - pure essence of meditation (yep quite different to Fremantle). We then caught up on some overdue rest for a few hours before catching some very thin, fleeting sunshine beside the pool again. Tomorrow we will get a four wheel drive transfer to higher up the mountain before starting our walk ...

Refuge the Bassies to Goulier

During the night the wind howled around the refuge and the rain pelted the building. In the morning the weather forecast was for showers in the morning with winds up to 80 km per hour, and rain in the afternoon. Not very promising! We discussed descending to the valley with the guardian of the refuge, who told us it would be OK as long as we took care as one section of the track has very slippery rocks. We decided to go ahead as a whole day of playing scrabble on ...
