At the end of the town is a ruined castle that was built in the 9th century for protection and in the 13th century the town was granted half revenue from traders as a toll for passage through to the Med. As with all things that slowly become unimportant, the castle has slowly fallen into decline and stone has been robbed by locals to build their own houses.         ... The lady behind the bar said 2? so of course we said yes 1 each. We realised why she asked when they arrived, I ended up putting half of mine in a doggy bag, there were 4 different salamis, chorizo, pancetta, 2 different cheeses and sobrasada on bread, plus olives and onions! and all this for £7.00 each!!!         ... if we wanted to go with them even though it was in French. We begged with Mum to go and she said YES because we might learn some french but we didn't understand any of it as they speak so quick. We had to have a really quick tea, shower and get ready.

        We got home really late at 10.30pm. I was so tired and hungry. We had cereal and went to bed!

        ... interesting people. Anyway, we came "home" to our van, that we really enjoy, and cooked an excellent BBQ dinner of steak, champignons (we're in France, so they are not just common-old "mushrooms", please), spuds, garlic, and .....I've been leaving it 'till last......because I'm having a senior-moment and can't remember the name of the bloody things.....but they're also known as bell-peppers..... What do you call them....? Anyway, you know what I mean... ...

        ... Not as fast as a road bike of course but compared to the Canal tracks the road to Narbonne was fast. 15km in 40min with busy traffic we found a pretty **** cafe for a coffee, it happens. From Narbonne we followed the Canal and the track was quite busy, once again we passed everyone as the tail wind was wonderful. Thoughts of the return trip crept in though.
