And so we arrived in one of our favourite cities to spend our final night…for now anyway…in the US of A.

New York seemed like the perfect place to end our time here and to say goodbye to what has been our home for a combined total of just a smidge over 14 years between us, (me 10yrs 8 months, Sevi 3yrs 6 months).

We hadn't slept at all during the flight so ...

Today was another beautiful day so I decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge! I took the subway to the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn. It's called DUMBO because that is short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. Several neighborhoods are named this way. SoHo is South of Houston, Tribeca is Triangle Below Canal, Nolita is North of Little Italy, the Meatpacking District used to literally be the meatpacking district. They get real creative ...

The evening was amazing and we got out and still no rain so we lucked out and were able to walk back. I noted the interesting piles of trash they make on the sidewalk every night. It was sort of funny. I guess a big city makes big city trash! We also noted the cost of things is sort of CRAZY. Like alcohol. Literally 4 times what we pay in FL. I decided to pass on the booze and drink water. ...

... Center building. It looks even more impressive now that it is almost finished, although there is an awful lot more finishing off work to be done at ground level.

The journey north to our hotel (just outside Yonkers) was uneventful, and we finally got to there at 5pm (EDT). Not really fancying going out to eat (as were absolutely knackered) we had some crisps and oreos from the hotel's snack bar before getting an early night.

... some light pouring in through a singular skylight above. We ordered two local craft beers and had a jovial conversation with the bartender before ending the crawl.

That night we ordered an Uber ride to Perilla in Greenwich Village. We dined on exquisitely prepared fluke with cauliflower puree and duck breast with gooseberries and savory baklava. We polished off our evening with a decadent chocolate soufflé before retiring from pub-induced exhaustion for the ...
