... out everything about the area. Well done Neville - despite your technical problems you delivered a very interesting, insightful presentation. It's now Sunday and we drove to Cumbria to see my Cousin Laura and Family. An interesting tour of the region by Dominic and a delightful pub lunch. My "tourist" highlight was going to Alnwich Castle (Northumberland). Harry Potter movie 1 and 2 were partly filmed here. What an outstanding ...

... I’d rather wander the isle and stalls, spending my pocket money on weird and exotic food rather than post cards and souvenirs. There are a couple of great supermarkets here in Haute Savoir that I now worship at regularly. The biggest is the Carrefour superstore in Sallanche, about 20 minutes’ drive down the mountain. Carrefour is like a Walmart, but dosed up on body enhancing steroids and sporting a suntan. It’s big and loud, with specials ...

We did have to walk through the herd of cows since they were ...

... encounters with people along the way which has made this trip so memorable. Oh, ya... It turns out that Gerard, the kind, dignified man who was tending the vineyard that we ran into the other day... the man who asked us to join him for some wine... the man we turned down... well, he was also the mayor of the medieval town of St. Saphorin. We kicked ourselves a little for have missed what would have been a rich afternoon... c'est la vie.

... which was lovely. A perfect warm up for the big birthday bash!

I could definitely feel my legs after day one though and really noticed the fact that I haven't played any squash this year... Melissa was incredible, it was only her second week of skiing but she was game for anything. By day four, after our private lessons, we were both feeling like professionals. (I was rather proud of myself because I had my entire lesson in ...
