Thursday 14th August Today I travelled on the Busabout tour from Florence (again) via Genoa to Nice. We travelled via the Italian and French Rivera - it was absolutely breathtaking. ... cool, glossy, rich interior. There were chandeliers and marble, sweeping staircases and waterfalls - we felt so out of place that for several minutes we stood in a corner waiting for security to come and take us away. Perhaps if we'd taken our dog with us, or if we smoked or if either of us was wearing diamonds and platinum we might have blended in - but in our shorts and walking shoes we looked and felt like aliens. ... as the macaron! We headed "home" for a beer and bolognese crisps in the garden and a chat with le chat, and a internet/kindle sesh. We're starting to get the hang of late dinners now! This time at a cheaper restaurant..Pete really felt like cornflakes for dinner, unfortunately this wasn't on the menu. ... with some old French men playing. I took a couple of photos, then one of the men offered to take our photo and next thing we knew we had a photo with the “Random Old Guy”. We ended up cycling the length of the promenade both ways and then just returned the bikes to the stand.

For dinner I had Chinese and shared a bottle of red. In there common room of the hostel, Tom another Aussie based in London was recruited for the trip to Eze and Monte Carlo ...

... the shore line of Nice so St Paul was safer up in the hills. It was a Mecca for artists in early 1900s... There was a large house owned by the family De Rue....now artists would stay there and when they left, would pay for their stay by giving the home owner a painting. This actually turned out well fot the home owner...Picasso stayed there amongst a whole list that I cannot remember.. The descendants of this home owner are very, very wealthy. Phyll, ...
