... across and then wait an hour for a bus into Poprad. My heart was in my stomach the whole ride to the border, which was on a tiny winding road atop a cliff. The little bus hit black ice no less than 3 times and the bus driver thought it was hilarious to slam on the breaks every so often to check out the road conditions, while the rest of the bus cackled with laughter. Dom and I were the only ones left out of the joke, but at least we made it ...

... we came back in time for dinner, the place was filling up and a Roma band was playing in the corner. Score! Deanne noticed a guy playing an instrument I'd never seen. "He's playing a Hacklrett!" (sp?) she exclaimed. A what? When she was an exchange student in Austria (when she was 16 going on 17.....) one of the guys in town played one of these things. The dancing in Zakopane is a free fall, a mix between Irish dancing and head banging is most preferred. With Elvis impersonators how could you dance any differently? I was kindly undressed and ...

... beautiful but when we arrived at the lake after 2 hours it was a little underwhelming. We discovered later that despite this, it is the second most visited lake in Europe. Most of the people seemed to be European, with packed food. We didn't bring anything with us so bought some snacks which were still cheap, but I assume the locals would have found it way too expensive. As we were running out of time and a few members of the group were running out of puff, we opted for the ...

... pickled though! Today was a better day weather wise, but still to hazy to fully appreciate the beauty of the mountains. Not to say we've had bad weather, as the temperatures have in the 70's and only slight rain, never enough to stop us do anything. Going into the center was much easier today, less tourists. I had my eye on a pair of boots but, wasn't sure if I should buy them and Mike reminded me of an instance in Florence where I saw a leather jacket but didn't buy it, ...
