Off to Sydney

I got in one last run along the shore at April's house before we headed to the airport. We stopped to eat bagels along the way and unfortunately fed Devon enough to get him carsick on the way to the airport! After a quick change April, Debbie and Devon saw us off. There was a huge line to check in for Air New Zealand so we got to talk for another hour or so - HA! The good news is that April is hoping to make it back to the states for a year or so in the near future, so hopefully I will see he...

Mardi Gras in AUS

The irony here is that we went back to Pancake on the Rocks for breakfast. But it was too good to pass up early on Sat morning. We met Fiona for lunch at the Sydney Fish Market - we had fresh salmon, oysters, shrimp, calamari and Sparkeltini (Skippy is mortified by this part). It was great food and a fun atmosphere - we sat out on the picnic tables by the boat ramps. We headed back to the hotel room to change and meet up with Skippy's friend Jesse. We navigated our way across town and met her...

Last Day in Sydney

We slept late - and no we did NOT return to Pancake on the Rocks for a 4th time! Instead we went back to the Fishmarket for lunch. This time we had tuna, scallops, crayfish, etc. A whole new selection of seafood, but equally good and same enjoyable setting. Then we walked through Darling Harbor, down to the Woolworth's to pick up some goodies for friends, and then back to Circular Quay. It was raining so we spent much of the walk ducking into shops like the Apple Store and Mango. We met up wi...

A weekend in Sydney

We drove from my brothers house to Sydney to begin our weekend there. It was mam's birthday today so this was a birthday treat/celebration and our first opportunity to see the sights and sounds of Sydney. What a fantastic city this is...I loved everything about it from the tourist sights, Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge to the bars, restaurants and cafes. I could very easily live here i reckon as I'm pretty sure you'd never run out of things to do. It was only a shame that we seem to have ...

Walk into a dream

from Sneeze
We stayed in one of the the Penthouse Suites in December last year. This was good value, and meant we could share with our gap-year daughter and her boyfriend. On booking, I had stressed that we wanted an unbroken view of Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Walked out onto our balcony - and it was like walking into a dream! Amazing, unbroken view which in the 5 days we were there we never tired of. We spent one evening on the balcony with champagne and nibbles watching a cruise liner depart on it's maiden voyage. The fireworks (not quite new year standard) were amazing. Room was a bit 'tired' as was hotel. Pool small and grubby. Breakfast OK - but got us going for the day. Location is fabulous, beds very comfortable. (Are there any uncomfortable beds in Oz?) Would stay here again - but only in a penthouse - not as expensive as you might imagine.

Excellent Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at the Rendezvous Stafford for 4 nights at the end of May and was very impressed. Hotel in an excellent location - had a studio on the 5th floor with excellent views of the Opera House. Room a good size, with kitchenette which we didn't use as plenty of good value restaurants in Sydney to chose from. Very clean and tidy in a quiet location. All in all great value for money - would recommend.

Great Hotel

Staff were friendly, breakfast was fantastic for self service, great location with all shops and amenities including the opera house is near by, clean and quiet rooms, large sized accomodation offered, lots of information given to tourists, exceptional quality!!!!

Great location

from Vix77
We only stayed here one night at the end of our holiday, but it was worth it! We paid extra for a harbour view room - it's true that you can't see that much of it, but it's still nice to be able to see the opera house when you look out of your window! The room itself was very nice - clean, spacious and comfortable. It was also well-equipped with a kitchen, which we weren't expecting. The staff were helpful and friendly. Location was great - walking distance to most Sydney sights, but of course the harbour was practically next door - we spent our last night in Sydney in a restaurant near the Harbour Bridge.

A great hotel in the heart of Sydney

from LoveTraveling
Located in a small nice street, in the Rocks area (by far the most appealing part of Sydney).

A short walk through some picturesque alleys with nice little shops and art galleries brings you to George street, and in a couple more minutes you're bloat the Opera House, the Sydney Harbor Bridge or some fabulous restaurants (do not miss "Fish on the Rocks" restaurant!).

The room was real nice, although the promised "harbor view" (that's cost us quite a bit) was merely thin slice of the Opera house and the Harbor Bridge...

The hotel has 61 rooms, but it feels much smaller and cozier.

A very different experience comparing to your typical big city hotel, and very, very pleasant.

Fantastic Hotel!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed for five nights at this hotel and were very impressed by the customer service, location and rooms. We arrived at 7.30am, very tired after a long flight, and were given a complementary breakfast. Our room was ready by 10am and was a wonderful surprise. It was immaculately clean and spacious and we had a lovely balcony and view of the Harbour Bridge. The hotel is ideally situated in the Rocks, within 10 minutes walk of the Opera House and less than 5 minutes to Circular Quay which is a train and ferry terminal. The room was well serviced and the staff were more than helpful. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to others.

Solid Hotel in great location

from elvisisdead
The Stafford (as has already been noted in other reviews) is in a great location and provides clean, modern (if not basic) rooms at a great price.

If you need a little more space without giving up location, this is definately your hotel...

Nice hotel and great location

from SBTChicago_IL
We stayed in a studio and the size was fine for 2 adults and a 6 year old. The pull out sofa was ok for our son but when I laid down on it I didn't think it was too comfortable. Otherwise the furniture and linens were high quality and the kitchen came in very handy. The breakfast was quite good. The rooms were quiet. But the best is the location. The Rocks is definitely a great place to stay! Within walking distance to the main attractions and great restaurants.

Great Value

from npc5
Great value for money is this apartment/hotel complex. Stayed 4 nights here in Jan 2004 and it is wonderfully placed in the heart of the Rocks. Would highly recommend visiting Cruise Restaurant & Bar Level l-2, Overseas Passenger Terminal, West Circular Quay, as the food is very slick and of high beautiful quality and the view of the Opera House is easily the best in the world. Also I would consider buying a public transport (3-5 day) pass for longer stays as if your looking to explore darling harbour, the city and the beaches, walking can get a bit much from the rocks and and as the ferries, buses and trains all leave from 2 min away at circular quay this makes it very easy. Overall great place to explore Sydney, try and get a room with a view above level 4...

Fantastic location and reasonable price

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Stafford has an incredible location in comparison to it's price. You are within 2 minutes of Circular Quay and the bridge. Plus it is right in the middle of the Rocks which is the place to stay.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was clean and relatively spacious (there were 4 in the room and that was a little cramped, but not to the point of irratation). Very large bathroom!

The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was nice.

Once again though, the best part about this hotel was the location in comparison to the price--I did extensive research to find a good value in the Rocks area and was not disappointed at all.
