Singapore, Spring 2006

March 31 - April 4, 2006

Singapore would be enjoyable by three - a child, a town planner/architect and a shopaholic... Discovered I had all of those three in me on my trip.

Singapore is GREEN. Right from landing at the airport you get that feeling. Plantations are done everywhere. Oh yes, right inside the airport even. They have created rainforest areas in the interior and you can even here birds chirping there! No wonder it is continuously rated as one of the best airports of t...

Today we woke up really early to catch our 9:30am flight. We had gone to bed at about 11pm last night, and we got up at 4:30am to leave at around 5:30, so needless to say, we were really tired. It helped though, that The Hilton staff were very efficient, and the car that we had ordered was waiting for us outside. The pretty lights that covered the trees and light poles in the Hilton front yard waved us goodbye as we made our way to the airport. We got to the airport with sufficient time to sp...

While I was keying in my diary at Siew-Sai's office he was dealing with s...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Rendezvous Singapore

Excellent Location and Very Good Value

from xscream100
I managed to get an excllent rate by booking through the hotel's Web site. Unfortunately, they didn't have a record of my booking when I checked in but that was straightened out the next morning.

Excellent location at the end of Orchard Road and a five minute walk to the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.

Nice, comfortable rooms of average size by North American standards for this class of hotel.

I did not have a chance to check out the hotel's pool or restaurants.

Excellent Location

from JKWD
This hotel is beautiful with nicely decorated rooms. The room is not huge but of reasonable size. The room with pool view is relaxing and quieter than those facing the streets. The best thing about the hotel is its location, near the Orchard Road to the west, close to Little India (15 minutes walk to the north) and the Singapore River (15-20 minutes walk to the south). It is opposite to SMU and 1 minute walk to a large food court and a big convenient store to the east. It is also very near the Cathay Cineplex so that going for a movie is always possible all day and late at night. The buffet breakfast at the Cafe is also very good in variety and quality.

Good value

The Rendezvous Hotel is well located in Singapore between the Raffles area and Orchard Rd close to the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. The hotel lobby is impressive. The room and bathroom were clean and light. (I stayed in a standard room on the 6th floor with a king (two twins together) bed). The pool did not receive much sunlight, so this would not be a good place for a suntan. For $100USD/night, I thought the hotel was a good value though definitely not a luxury hotel. If you're looking for comfortable, clean, upscale accomodation, the Rendezvous works.

Nice hotel!!!

Having read all reviews posted in Tripadvisor, my boyfriend and I decided to stay in the Hotel Rendezvous in our first Singapore vacation. The location of Rendezous is good, it is located in the middle of the city, so it takes around 5 mins in average to go any where, Orchard road, Clarke Quay, Esplande; to the nearst MRT station i think is about 10mins walk, but i never tried because the cab in Singapore is cheap!

The hotel room was clean and tidy, there was no fancy decoration but practical, the toilet wasquite large than we expected. We were given a twin though we booked a double (but it's fine because we managed to "combine" them). The staff were nice and helpful. We arrived the hotel at around 2:30 midnight due flight delay, and we asked if there was still clubs and disco opening. The reception lady kindly asked us to go our room first and she would checked the opening hour for us on the internet, and we at last did go to Clarke quay for our late night fever.

The pool was good .... very few people there and we occupied nearly the whole pool!

A CUT ABOVE

from Joycey
A lovely comfortable, clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. with no pressure of any kind I've never felt so relaxed, comfortable and at home in any hotel before, but not only had I arrived jet lagged, but this was the very first time I'd travelled abroad alone, which makes it doubly OK.

The Rendezvous is set in a superb location, with a bus stop right outside, a food hall opposite and the metro, including an enormous shopping centre complete with cinemas a short walk away. The Singapore Art Museum is right around the corner. There is a free hotel mini bus to the Suntec Centre at 8.30 am for business travellers, which is otherwise a very cheap taxi ride away as is the blissful shopping area of Orchard Road or you could reasonably walk to either.

The hotel has very pleasant reception area with a bar around the corner, and entrance to a delightful courtyard with two levels of outlets and area, they were setting up for a bar-be-Que. in the central paved area as I left. It was a pleasant walk through the courtyard, exiting opposite a small park a few minutes walk from the nearest metro station.

The restaurant was set on two levels, and had large windows looking out onto the busy street outside. Staff were cheerful and helpful, although the local dish I'd ordered was unavailable so I had some delicious fruit smoothies instead, although more traditional breakfast was being served too.

My room was delightful, the very best part was the bedside 'command consul' which allowed my to adjust the lighting or turn it on/off as well as the TV and air con without having to leap out of my seriously comfortable bed. There was also a setting which prevented me from being disturbed, either by phone, or at the door. Fantastic!

My room overlooked a very pleasant looking pool, and was well furnished. I was especially pleased to find a light in the fitted wardrobe as I nearly always drop something black down the back and struggle to find it. The lighting altogether was very good and well thought out. There were two wall lights fitted into the huge bathroom mirror which miraculously prevented the mirror getting steamed up at head height, as well as giving very good lighting for make up etc. I was really pleased that my travel agent had selected this hotel for me, and consider it to have been good value for money.

I'd like to go to Singapore again and stay at least a week.

Good stay

from KCkles
I recently enjoyed a 5 night stay at the Rendevous. I found the front desk staff helpful, room service was good and arrived on time. My room was nice and clean, I especially liked the bathroom. The lighting was good and I has enough room to put my makeup on in the morning.

As a woman traveling on my own. I was happy to see the lift/elevator required a key card to access rooms.

Location wise you are in walking distance of the metro and Orchard Road. There is a shopping mall not far from the hotel called Plaza Singapura. Where they have a Carrefour supermarket, stocked with European and American products. Great if you want some snacks or drinks to keep in your room.

I plan to stay at the Rendezvous next time I am in Singapore. I think that says it all.

Great Hotel

from tash
We stayed at the Rendezvous in November 05, for a 2 night stop over with 2 kids aged 3 & 4. All the hotels we had booked were 5 star but this one was rated 3/4 so i was dubious about what it would be like but not knowing Singapore we just took our chances.

We were really pleased when we arrived, it was very smart, clean and spacious. The beds were very comfy and the rooms had brilliant air con and it was in a fab location. We were a short walk from Dauby Ghaunt CBT (underground). Sentosa Island was one way and Orchard road was the other.

It was definatly as good as the 5 star hotels in Oz and Cape Town.

I had 2 nights at the Rendezvous in Singapore while I was there on business. The overall impression of the hotel was very good. The staff were helpful as you'd expect, and room service was quick and courteous. the rooms were nicely done without being too remarkable. The main thing for me was that this hotel seemed to do everything very well and at an extremely keen price - I thought it was really remarkable value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Their only omission was staffing at the concierge, they didn't seem to have any...

Fantastic Hotel

from AnthUk
We stayed here for 2 nights in March 2005. The room we had was on the top floor, it was very clean and comfortable overlooking the swimming pool and jacuzzi. The staff here were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel itself is stunning from inside and out. It is very near to the MRT which made it ideal for exploring, it is also within walking distance to Suntec City and Raffles.

Good Value

This hotel was recommended by my travel agent. In the past I had only stayed in major chain hotels such as Sheraton and Hyatt so I was a little apprehensive of staying at an unknown brand. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful (what else would you expect in Singapore!), the hotel was very clean, rooms modern and well serviced.

The location was very convenient being only 5 mins walk to the nearest MRT station.

All in all I enjoyed 4 very comfortable nights. I would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.
