Ah, the long weekend finally arrived and after packing (me, leave things to the last minute?!? As if!!!) we were off on our way to the domestic airport and our flight up to Broome. Departure on time, and a fiendishly difficult '5 Sudoku' puzzle for me and a charity anagram puzzler for Mum and Sophie (sleep for Dad of course!) we were in Broome before we knew it. We immediately hit the heat and 'Broome time' with a wee bit of a wait to get the bus from the airport to the hotel complex we were ...

... I got back from the mango farm the following day that I saw the pictures of what my so called friends had done to me while in my drunken stupor! Shaving foam all over me, silly hat, alchol bottle put in my hand and multiple pictures taken! Ooops. Needless to say when I woke up a few mere hours later I was still drunk. Chris and I drove to the mango farm, note I was wearing my one flip flop and a random other flip flop I found on the way to the car, luckily it fit! We arrived on time and ...
Broome, Western Australia, Australia nickoz... left Broome, we didn’t have far to go to find one - and the friendly proprietoress who gave us a discount, and the large shady pool, did much to cheer me up.

That night was our first together in the van. While you’ve got to love the convenience of just laying out the mattress and curling up at bedtime, let me tell you, there is not a vast amount of space back there. With the temperature brushing 40 ...
Broome, Western Australia, Australia rachelhwalsh... and clean and friendly and had loads of cattle and kangaroos hanging around the outside of the caravan park. We saw some very big tides and some amazing sunsets and the moon reflecting across the coast when the tide was out! It was a strange feeling being out of phone range and of course unable to use the internet for over a week!

We stayed a week in Broome at Cable Beach Caravan Park and made some more lovely friends, young and old. We have been to ...

Fitzroy Crossing was a dry community however there were a mixed bunch of drinkers at the bar!

We were really looking forward to getting to Broome, as we had heard so many good things about it and were desperate to get to the beach. The campsite was a bit of a shock, as it was a very commercial site with over 500 sites. Our neighbours surrounded us, so there was very little privacy. We ...

Broome, Western Australia, Australia taran.holiday... Broome.

We stopped at the Boab prison tree to have a look, it was bigger than the one at Wyndham. We continue on our way still hungry, we stop at the first Willare Roadhouse for some food and Owen decides to top up our fuel just to make sure we make it to Broome. (it was 181.0) so he didn’t want to fill it until we got to Broome.

We got to Broome around 4.30 and although we were staying with Roseanne ...
Broome, Western Australia, Australia omluke... tent up again. I'm not impressed with the site, so we've booked somewhere else for our remaining 3 nights, but at least we've got a base to use for now. It's school holidays until July 20th, so its absolutely heaving with people up here, so we can't afford to be picky seeing as we didn't book in advance. We made a picnic dinner of grilled chicken and a pasta salad, packed it in a cooler bag, along with a bottle of wine and 2 ...
Broome, Western Australia, Australia steph_nico... as a dog these last 24hrs, it prevented them from travelling the previous day. As it was he had been vomiting in the car the entire journey from 80mile Beach today anyway. We agreed to quarantine him from the children - much to our kid's disgust.

After setting up the next job is to find a supermarket and stock up, we don't even have enough supplies for lunch! So into town we drive with empty stomachs and in great anticipation to see proper shops and Broome itself ...
Broome, Western Australia, Australia millersofoz... three or four times the 48 hours we were there. Paul finally had some luck and got a little 'bluie' that was enough for a mouthful for breakfast the first time & then on Friday night/Saturday morning he got three, enough for quite a decent feed. Graham's struggling to get enthused with the beach fishing, he keeps loosing gear & has been spoilt with our access to boat-fishing at home in NZ. Friday afternoon we went for a spin up the beach in Paul's bus. We went 30 odd ...
