The hotel is in central part of city. You can see a lot of the buildings that were damaged in the earthquake. Very sad to see. The hotel is clean and has been recently updated for carpets etc. the room although small is nicely appointed. Staff have been friendly and helpful. Internet is free and works.

On the bus early today. 12+ hours bus from Queenstown to Christchurch. Arrived here around 7:30 pm. Can still see the evidence of recent earthquakes. The amount of devastation in city core is hard to believe. On our way here we Stopped at Mount Cook to eat lunch and view glacier. Beautiful scenery all the way. Mike has caught a head cold. ... grab some food. Then the rain started just as we were passing the KFC. So naturally the Queen demanded some chicken (Yeah! Like it wasn’t our plan all along to go to KFC. Just in another place :D) Naturally I gave in and we headed into this fast food restaurant. It has been a while, almost a year, since we had a go with fried Kentucky deliciousness. As
