Meeting our family in Perth was truly remarkable. The immediate connection you have with people that you have never met before (or last seen many, many years ago as children) is what makes us "family". Unfortunately, and consequently, this leads to tear-filled farewells, and promises to see each other again.

          ... think that is realistic.
Too much running around, man. Hopefully after the field work I can
fit it in. Basically, the plan is to fly to Launceston, get some
devil training at Torwunna Wildlife Park, then drive to Hobart and
depart early Monday for Cradle Mountain and two weeks of devil
trapping with researcher Rodrigo Hamade of the University of
          Tasmania. Wooo!
          In all of this, I
made some mean beet burgers. I hope the family likes them!

... afternoon. After being taught the basic techniques we headed into the sea for 2 hours... 2 hours of getting wiped out by waves, dragged by the current, robs board whacking me on the head, we decided It wasn't actually that fun at all. The sea was really choppy on this day and was hard enough to even wade through the water with your board to where you wanted to try and surf! In fact, the hardest thing was even carrying the board, its heavy and awkward and ...

... WAS AMAZING!! On Saturday we donned our trainers and set off to hike up the Mt Coot-ha trail with Sarah and Jo. On our descent however we were unexpectedly caught in a storm and were soaked through in less than 5 minutes - you could barely see through the sheets of pouring rain! Following a relaxed evening at Jo and Sam's, we spent our final day together sharing a last supper ...
