I'll Meet You In San Francisco

So today's blog feels like 2 days have gone by because we left New Zealand at 7:15pm and had a 12 hour flight and arrived in San Fran around 1pm that same day. Weird!

We woke up from our hostel in Auckland and I was up for ages because (I think) I drank diet coke with caffeine so it kept me up. I was up til 4am but spent my time getting things sorted with the skydive thank you emails I needed to write and was practically my own PR for an hour emailing the people who said ...

Day 2 - San Francisco - Walk the city

... is much harder work than other cities due to the ridiculousy steep hills everywhere so after 6hrs of exploring we were both knackered and went back to the hostel for an afternoon nap. Then dragged ourselves out for a dinner to try the local Dungerness crab which didn't disappoint. Cracking first day in San Francisco. Beautiful city with great views, good seafood but way too many steep roads! Tomorrow we plan to hire bikes and cycle over the Golden Gate ...

    Great, central hotel

This is a great hotel - its a lot more expensive than we'd normally pay, but its worth every cent. On top of Nobs Hill, and right on top of three different Cable Car lines its in a great position to head in all directions. If you're reasonable fit its a good walk to Market St, the Ferry Terminal or Alcatraz Landing.

Rooms are a good size, and ours had good views of the skyline and glimpses of the harbour, everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful

    Great stay in San Fran

Great accomodations and helpful staff! Clean and 5 star service. The hotel is beautifully appointed and convenient to many things in San Fran. The concierge can help you book tours. We booked our wine country tour through the hotel. We were unable to book a tour of Alcatraz due to our schedule and the only day we could tour, they were sold out - so book early! if you are on a tight schedule. Especially on weekends.

    Nice stay overall

    from

Stayed three nights, Thurs thru Saturday. Great location intersecting all three cable car lines atop "Snob Hill". Service was good overall, though my first contact person upon checking in was not particularly friendly or accomodating. She tried to put me in a Queen bed cubicle of a room, and wouldn't really budge from this until I showed her that my written confirmation guaranteed a King Bed room. At that point She finally brought out her supervisor who was considerably friendlier and found a much better King bed room for the three nights. Otherwise no major complaints, though I've stayed at nicer and friendlier places in S.F. and wouldn't necessarily run back here.

Very classy hotel with great staff

    from

This is a very comfortable hotel. Understated elegance with many very thoughtful touches. Towel warmers, complimentary coffee delivered to your room, 24 hour room service. The staff were all very helpful and courteous. The location is the best next door to the Fairmount and Mark Hopkins. Great stay.

    Perfect Location

    from

An elegant, charming hotel with Asian influences. I thought are room was quite large for a room in a big city (but I am a NYer) . The bed and linens was the most comfortable hotel bed ever. We had a wonderful view of the cable car lines intersecting and the bay in the distance.

It was a very long walk from the elevator to our room, but its an old hotel and we are young : )

    Great Nob Hill location

    from

Convenient Nob Hill location, in the middle of all 3 cable car routes. Rooms are fairly compact, but make up for it in fine Egyption cotton sheets. Our first front desk person was a little snobby, but all others were professional and friendly. Great room service.

    Great location and excellent staff.

    from

I would definitely recommend staying at the Stanford Court Hotel. The location was excellent (on intersection of cable car lines), the staff are professional and the rooms were above average but nothing to write home about. We were on the 6th floor looking into the courtyard. Pricey to park but that's San Fran.

    Great hotel

    The Best

    from

Everytime we visit San Fran we stay at the Stanford. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary there and this week will celebrate our 20th anniversary there! Can't wait!

    Fantastic Experience

    from

Great Hotel. Food was wonderful. Overall best experience in San Francisco

    What a wonderful hotel

    from

I just returned from a business trip. The company booked us at the Stanford Court and I have to say it was one of the best hotels ever. The service was prompt and friendly. The rooms were lovely and well detailed. The complimentary coffee delivered to my door with my wake up call was wonderful. (It came with a pitcher of cream, not that powdered stuff) I didn't want to leave. I felt very pampered. I can't wait to go back.

    The Standford Court Hotel

    from

Great internet value, wonderful location, well away from the insanity of Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf, yet easy walking to nearly everything of interest (if you run with your retired racing Greyhounds daily). Their breakfast lemon souffle pancakes with raspberries and raspberry sauce is really "world class"!
