Historical Traveler Reviews Renaissance Providence Hotel
What a beautiful hotel. The beds were so comfortable I did not want to go home. The service was so wonderful they might make me a Marriott customer forever. I had some problems getting into the 2 rooms that I booked because they were not ready on time3:00 pm. By 4:30 we were still not in our room and four of us had to shower for a 5:30 dinner reservation. The manager came out and took care of it immediately and made what was a very bad experience ( my family was celebrating my mother's 80th birthday there) into a fantastic one. I wll go back for sure.
I'm not ordinarily the person who writes online reviews, though I read them often in making decisions on our travel plans. I felt compelled to write a review of this hotel, however, because of how outstanding our experience was. The hotel itself is beautiful, a first class renovation. I am a self-proclaimed hotel snob, and this place won me over when I walked in the door. All of the staff, wtihout exception, were warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful with every facet of our stay and smiled when meeting our demands (traveling with three kids results in a multitude of issues). The rooms are brand new, decor is funky and tasteful and bathrooms are spacious. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Providence. We also got a great rate on the hotel's website.
Great stay at this new Hotel
We stayed at this new hotel for 2 nights over the July 4th holiday using my marriott points. They upgraded us to the conceige level which was a plus. I am sensitive to noise and they happened to put me next to an elevator and across from an ice machine. But the sound insultation must be really good since I didn't hear any noise at all during my stay. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. I like the 2 queen beds since we have kids. This is much better than the Marriott where they only give you 2 doubles. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is next to the Providence Mall so you can go shopping and have dinner there. There is not much to do in Providence.
Overall, I like the Renassiance Hotel chain alot. The rooms are much better than the generic Marriott and the staff is more friendly. Definitely a 5 for this hotel.
Excellent Service, very pleasant staff
The hotel was great and very competitive rate, the address in Google Maps is not accurate so keep that in mind. The hotel is right next to the Rhode Island State House in Providence. The service was excellent, very friendly staff and offering their help since we stepped out of the car. The hotel was clean and nice looking. The only thing is that the bed is a bit hard, I'm just use to softer beds, but overall is a great choice if you plan to stay in Providence.
A true "Providence"Experience
After reading all the reviews and looking for the right place in Providence to stay for the first time, I selected this hotel because of the price offered (leisure rate) and the fact that it was a new Marriott. What a tremdendous surprize! Finding the hotel was not easy because of the traffice layout of Providence but once we fiqured it out is was a short walk to the downcity sites, & the Waterfire event which was spectacular.I recommend everyone to see this moving experience, more information can be found at their site waterfire. The hotel is steeped with history which the bellman, desk receptionist told us about, little touches abounded and the staff was all very helpful, and delighted to serve , (their logo phrasword). The rooms are small, but lovely.I asked for a captial view but instead got a stone wall. It seems they only have some of the floors open. The resturant is a private room for guests only, very pricey for the quality or lack of quality of the food but the morning breakfast provided was lovely ,all fresh and the wait staff was short of help but tried very hard to please and keep up.We plan to be in Providence again and will choose t o stay here for the convience, ambience and staff's professional friendliness. Kudos to Marriott for bringing this hotel into thier fold.
A gorgeous new hotel in a great location. The hotel is brand new and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms are sumptuous and very comfortable. We were there for Waterfire and both the event and the hotel exceeded our expectations. Providence is a great city to visit.
Beautiful hotel and great location
We stayed at this property on June 1st the day after it's official opening. I can say the property is one of the nicest Providence has to offer. Unfortunately, they were not fully prepared to open to the pubic. They only had room service, their restaurant and bar was not open. The exercise room was top notch. The room we had was rather on the small side, overlooking the parking garage of the mall, but was nicely decorated and the bathroom was beautiful. We did have several issues but I defer going over them because I truly feel due a premature opening, the staff was overwhelmed. I will state that the issues we did encounter were taken care of in the utmost professional way by the management staff and they went above and beyond to rectify our issues.
Having stayed at all the Marriott properties in Providence, I would highly recommend spending the extra money to stay at this hotel. It's location to the mall and Water fires are great for anyone who loves to walk. We even walked to Federal Hill from the hotel. Who doesn't like a good mile walk after a wonder Italian dinner!
Issues aside, we have already booked a return trip to this hotel and have no doubt, the service will be top notch. The Renaissance is now our #1 hotel choice when visiting Providence.
This is a brand new hotel, opened just a week ago. I was there for a professional organization's meeting, and every aspect of the stay was great. The room was done very well( colors not my taste, but very nice all the same) and was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom large and well appointed.
The meeting space we were in was large, the sound system was good and the air conditionaing was working so the room did not get too stuffy. The lunch provided for the meeting was really good, considering that they were serving 100 or so people. the timing was good, the serving setup remained stocked, and the staff hustled.
Marriott/Renaissance has obviously worked with the staff because they were tuned in to guest needs, and everything was handled appropriately. The staff appeared as though they had been doing this for years, rather than just for a matter of days.
I poked my head into the exercise facility and although I did not use it, it looked very nice.
The standard rack rate is going to be a little hefty here, but I would definitely recommend staying here again. In fact I am thinking about bringing my family back for a visit.
Overall, I would rate this hotel very high.

I am officially a leaf peeper! That is somebody who travels around just to look at the autumn leaves. And they have been fairly spectacular, although not quite at their peek. They have web sites dedicated to the changing of the leaves and it all depends on the weather. They have had a mild autumn so far, so the leaves are a little late
