Historical Traveler Reviews of Renaissance Moscow Hotel

Auch für westliches Standards ein ausgezeichnetes Hotel

from DovZir

Excellent hotel by any western standard

from DovZir
I spent over 100 nights during the last 3 years in Renessainse and I can tell that it is one of the best hotel of its league around the world.

Clean , secure , efficient.

The drawback is location - it is a little bit of the center - the resteranuts and shops are 10 mins of walking. Central moscow is 15 min driving (with no traffic) or 15 mins in Metro (10 mins walking distance from hotel).

Overall very pleasent hotel to stay while in Moscow.

A Rip Off!

from allisoniain
What a price and what poor value. US$475/night + taxes and all you get is the sort of room you'd expect at an Ibis in a grim cold isolated building next to the Moscow Olympic Stadium.

Even the corridor outside the room had wires attached to bare light bulbs to light it up, loose bits of carpet and the toxic smell of paint (as they were re-decorating the corridor). The restaurants were dull and characterless with pale food.

The best thing about the hotel was the exercise room which was good. It also had a swimming pool which looked decent.

Terrible - avoid.

Nice Stay At This Hotel

from SisSandals
We stayed here 5 nights on our recent trip to Moscow. It was VERY expensive but the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at overseas.

Rooms are equivalent to rooms in the USA. The lobby is nice..the staff is nice.

The restaurants are very pricey tho. The breakfast buffet was $29 per person and it wasn't worth it. The menus were way overpriced too.

The hotel is not in the best area of town though - but it's easy to deal with if you just have someone who can help you know where you need to go.

Beware of bathtubs. They are very high and one of the people in our party fell and broke their ankle and had to be taken to a Moscow hospital.

Decent but expensive

from Spoda
Stayed for five nights at this hotel in late April, 2006. Rooms were above average. Location is not ideal, but there is a free regular shuttle from and to either Pushkin Square or near Red Square. Both the Italian restaurant and the German bierstube have acceptable food, but it is very overpriced. Beers at the bierstube are the best bet in the hotel.

Clean and very comfortable

from Chris_FFM
I stayed for four nights on a business trip in this hotel. It was refurbished a couple of years ago by german management and is still in a very good condition. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and tidy. I didn't use the pool but I read the lonely planet, that it is the largest pool in a hotel in the moscow area. Positive is the complimentary hotel shutle to the city center which runs every 30 minutes. On the other hand it takes a good 10 minutes walk to the metro station, which isn't in the best neighbourhood.

Watch Your Wallet

from lukeaa
Nice hotel in a bad location, and my reservation at $185 a night mysteriously disappeared and they only had $525 per night rooms available. No negotiation, no upgrade or anything else for the extra $340+ per night. I will not stay here again.

Good Business Center

from JPCC
The room was a comfortable size. The front desk and business center staff are excellent. They are very accomodating and professional. Not a tourist-y spot. Pool/work out room and lockers are nice. Air conditioning was "broken" in hotel...only provided with fan.

Good hotel by any standard

from chazz5122
This hotel is a good choice if you are going to Moscow on business.Food was good, with an excellent breakfast buffet.Rooms were average size and clean.staff was capable.only negative is location.if you are coming as a tourist, this is way out of the way.

Pure luxury

from ponchik
My wife and me needed to stay only one night in Moscow (June 2003). We recommended this hotel and got immediately a free room. And what to say: I leaves no wish unfulfilled! It's worth the try... if you can afford it.
