Our final days

Our final few days

Saturday is our final day in Playa and as our tummy's are still delicate we head into 5th Ave for a light breakfast and last minute shop.

Did I mention that some of the stores here have a security guy outside with an Oozy gun? Nice feeling, make mental note not to shoplift in that store lol (only joking would never do that, gun or no gun)

We have a late checkout and our car is waiting for us at 2pm to take us to the airport. Before we know it we are on...

Rehab begins

The boys have landed............. Premium economy provided the best flight ever.....chivas regal and a few bourbons, just whats the doctor ordered. 13 hour flight went extremely fast and we are now sitting in an internet cafe checking up on some final details. From here, its off to the car rental place and a quick tour of the Sunset Strip. Tonight we are staying right behind the kodak theatre in Hollywood. We got here alright, yeah! Rehab boys........OUT!

Day 1 - Los Angeles

So, we made it. After the most fantastic and amazing weekend of my life, here we are in Hollywood. It's Monday afternoon and thanks to the wonder of flying back through time, it's only taken a few hours to get here. In reality, it's been a long day. Following on from the open house yesterday which was the perfect way to spend the day after your wedding, heading to LA has topped everything off. Early start, up and out and off to the airport by about 6am. Opened the case in customs to find a pi...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Renaissance Hollywood Los Angeles

Best hotel in Hollywood and LA!

from cj515
Just returned from the Renaissance Hollywood on September 8, 2003. The hotel, service and location can only be described as "EXCELLENT". You feel like you are a star at this property and it is in the heart of hollywood and surrounded by all the attractions. It has a mall, food court, night club, etc all on site. It may cost a little more but believe me it's worth every dollar. I'm in the travel industry and I give this property a 5-star! I would not think of staying anywhere else when I return to California. -- DJ

It was great

My friends and i just got back from the Renaissance Hotel last week. I just wanted to say I loved it. Hollywood isn't the nicest looking area in LA but this was by far the best looking place there. It is clean, modern, and so much fun. I would definatly reccomend this hotel especially if you are under 21 because they will let 18 year olds check in and lot of hotels won't. We were on the 18th floor and had the most awsome view, the Capitol Records building was directly in front of us and the Hollywood sign was to the left. The room was so cool and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in my life! What is even better is the Hollywood and Highland complex, everything is right there. There is tons of great resturants so you don't have waste gas driving some place the stores are good too. And it is so great because the walk of fame, the handprint, and the Kodak theater (where the oscars are held) are all attached to the hotel. Plus everything is so close Beverly Hills was 10 minutes, we went to a taping at the Warner Bros Studio that was 10 min, Universal studios was 5 min, the hollywood bowl is just up the road. It is a really great location.

Renaissance is the Only place to stay!

I have to be in Hollywood once a year. From now on I'll only be staying at the Renaissance! It's clean, modern and located near everything. And the staff is terribly polite. It's really just the best :)

This hotel caters to your every need. Its a very modern hotel with a great location! It also connects to a shopping haven! Many resturants including the one in hotel Twist. You can wonder around the hotel forever! I recommend this to everyone. In December the hotel and hollywood is not as crowded im sure as in the summer. Its very nice!

I can't say enough wonderful things about the Renaissance Hollywood. Our room was spacious ... the bed was so comfy ... and we had an amazing view of the Hollywood sign. The rooms are decorated more like your own home than a hotel room, making a much more comfortable stay. The staff was super friendly and always professional (even to guests on the younger side like us). The pool sort of overlooks the Highland Shopping area which is a little weird, but kind of cool. Hollywood is ultra touristy, but the Renaissance's relaxing quality sort of allowed us to forget the madness outside. The only downside was that parking was kind of expensive ($19 every time you want to move the car) and because of the area, parking is almost impossible to find on the street. But the hotel and staff were awesome.

Loved the Renaissance Hollywood!

The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is fabulous! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, some of the nicest staff I have ever encountered. The hotel itself is new, clean, beautiful and spacious. You are right smack in the middle of Hollywood. Right next to the Hollywood and Highland Complex (The kodak theater and the Oscars are here) Graumann's Chinese Theater, the Star Walk, The El Capitan theater, the Hollywood Wax Museum, and many other Hollywood attractions are just at the doorstep. The rooms are much like the hotel, contemporary, clean, spacious, well decorated and comfortable. You may , as we were fortunate enough, even get a room with a view of the Hollywood Sign, Capitol Tower and much more! Room service is available and is quite good! There is also a post office directly across from the hotel which is quite convenient. The hotel has a little gift shop, as well as fax service, and hotel laundry service. I highly recommend a rental car in Hollywood, the driving isn't that bad and taxi's are much too expensive if you plan to travel a lot. The hotel has valet parking, with likewise excellent staff and fair pricing. All in all, with the great things to see and the excellent location, staff, rooms and price, the Renaissance is probably my favorite hotel!

Incredible Retro Style Hotel

This hotel is by far the Crown Jewel of Hollywood Hotels. The area is still rundown but you would not notice staying in the comforts of this 1950's styled hotel. The shopping complex and Kodak Theatre that are adjacent is extremely convenient. Dodger Stadium for baseball fans is not far away down Sunset Blvd. Our room overlooked the Hollywood Hills and was spectacular from the 16th floor. When in Hollywood or LA for that matter, definitely consider staying here, next to where the Academy Awards are presented.

What a beautiful hotel surrounded by all that is Hollywood. I had a wonderful spacious room with a view of the Hollywood sign. Even though I am not, I truly felt like and was treated like a celebrity. I plan on returning 10 more times. Definitely recommend.

You MUST stay at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel!!

In a word . . . AMAZING!!! This is by far my favorite hotel in all the U.S. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are luxurious and comfortable and the whole experience is unforgetable. Whatever you do, stay at this hotel when you're in LA.

Holy cow what a hotel!

I just spent a night at the Renaissance Hollywood and the place is just SO COOL! In the lobby is a huge modern painting over the front desk (HUGE), an Asian rock garden with real grass growing through the floor, and lots of other cool artwork. The whole hotel has this kind of post-modern design feel to it. The rooms are almost Jetson-esque, and our view of the Hollywood Sign was great. Plus the best part is that it's right next to Hollywood & Highland, which is like a big outdoor mall with these tremendous elephants above you. The Academy Awards are going to be in the theater there. And the hotel's restaurant has some of the most amazing sushi I've ever had. The whole place is like a modern museum and it makes you feel very hip to stay there!
