... Customs was easy and our bags were there when we arrived at the carousel .. We had a lovely black mafia Mercedes van awaiting for us to take us to our Hotel, the Marco Polo. It's in the older area of the city.. Everything was pretty much closed as it was only 0600hrs. We checked in and went and had a quality buffet breakfast..although the sultana bun Barb grabbed turned out to be Olive bread and Billy's soft fried egg turned out an ...

... bus stop (as you do) unloaded and that was it. "Toodles old boy, until next time." We sprinted to check in through our own designated desk, breezed through immigration (another passport stamp) and security (which was surprisingly straight forward) and then we set off on the long, long walk to duty free and our gate, still with legs crossed (they're not big on public conveniences around here it seems). ... br> This whole city is built on a sandpit as far as one can see. Amazing what man can do with concrete and formwork. Any I managed to catch a couple of big ones but I am pretty sure that they are not local fauna. Still, I can see that there are plenty of big game around. Males in white dresses and females in black dresses. Pretty simple dress code so it’s not too confusing. The head scarf thingy is all the rage.

    Check out the photos.

... to be told our room still wasn't ready. Half an hour more and Jack decided to kick off earning us an upgrade to an executive room and a late check out. I knew I brought him for a reason. The room was great, fresh fruit and water bottles everyday, fridge, tv, AC and balcony.
It was now afternoon so we thought we'd check out the first attraction - the Burj Kalifa (the worlds tallest building) by the Dubai mall. Hopping back on the metro, 5 stops later we were there, walked ...

Dubai is one of the most interesting cities. Through all the hustle and bustle (and heat), the city is quite beautiful in its own way. We arrived after the celebration of Ramadan, so thousands of people were out and about enjoying the city and all of its wonders. With so many people surrounding us at all times, we felt overwhelmed; yet, heavily immersed in the culture. Our tour guide, Swah, was very kind and informative. We hit many of the "hot spots" ...
