... all around town. Along the way we happened upon a small restaurant that appeared to be selling snakes of various sizes and types. They had some in a glass cage that you could pick out like lobsters, and some in plastic bags that appeared to be in the “day old” pile. We decided not to sample that particular delicacy.
After perusing the kitchen street for a few blocks, we found ourselves close to the Sensoji Shrine ...

Tokyo, Japan purplefaerie... between individuals, societies, nations, genders, generations, races, and religions in the context of our present circumstances. - From a book I bought about this art exhibit One night in Kawaguchi, we were watching the news and they were doing a story on the Triennale. The artist whose work they were spending a significant amount of time talking about was LA's own Miranda July, who wrote "No one belongs here more than you," and "Learning to love you more," and I met her after her ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan meaghanmcc... We finally got back to the hostel hours later than scheduled, grabbed our bags and got on the underground....which is so big that it took 2 hours to get from the city to the airport.....having given up hope we arrived at the airport 50mins before our flight was due to leave....but they still let us on! Very lucky!! Bound for the southern hemisphere, we watched a film, gobbled our food and tried to get some sleep before a 6am arrival in Cairns.
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan alexandcarol... about. Having snowball fights. Sliding around. Making snow angels. Building snowmen. Decorating snowmen. Naming snowmen. Punching snowmen in the face before completely flipping out and tearing apart all its snow-family in a ninja outfit whilst little Asian children stand by quite bewildered and confused regarding the events they have just witnessed. Good times, good times. Hell, there was even a giant snow maze and snow tower - like, made of snow. And no pictures or videos we ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan tomfonder... to travel and see the countryside and it is interesting to see the different types of trains. Also, coming from Oregon where people don't ride trains, I have a sort of romantic notion of trains, where they take you to many far off and wonderful places. The weather was cloudy all day so I didn't expect to see Mount Fuji but as the train rolled through Shizuoka , I looked up and saw the grand mountain, and not fully snow capped but long white streaks of ...
Tokyo, Japan 1061kun... after stopping in at several small street promoter-promoted "clubs" along the way. The good part of these promoters was that at least they spoke English, which was a nice change. The clubbing in Japan was very similar to HK... lots of fun. People everywhere, place is packed... good times. We didn't want to pay for a cab, so we ended up clubbing until the train lines started up again at 5am... then crashed back at the hotel. Good night all around!
Tokyo, Japan jasonlew... a big backpack on.) Check-in isn`t until 3pm and, due to our early plane arrival, it is only 9am, so we have a full six hours before we can nap. Tokyo is, in case you hadn`t heard, a rather large city that never seems to let up. Unlike most cities, which have a downtown CBD and then lessens in intensity as you move away from downtown, Tokyo appears to just be one great big downtown. Every subway stop, even on a Sunday morning, is full of ...
