After 6:15am Mass we got on the bus to go to Monte Cassino. The Abbey for the Benedictines is there. We went up the mountain to the Abbey and had a great tour. The story of the rock is that St. Benedict fell and God made the rock soft so his arm print is there. St. Scholastica liked doves and when she died St. Benedict saw doves. Then we left to go back to ...

And tomorow I'm doing absolutely nothing. Thailand is treating me well, but I'm pretty exhausted. ...

... a campsite just outside Pescasseroli heading towards what in winter is the ski station. The weather is hot and sunny and after siesta, we walked back towards the town centre to have a mooch around and find the tourist information centre. Pescasseroli isn't perched on a hill but is still pretty enough in its own way. It seems to be mainly geared up for the ski season. The tourist information was closed so we had an ice cream and headed back to the campsite.

... at you and steal all of you money, so I devised a cunning plan to have some cash in my pocket that was zipped, cash in my shoe and cash in our bag. I wore my pack on my front to be ready for anything. We walked to the railway station( about a block) and I was prepared with the "**** you look" but the station was almost empty. We could not find the platform number and so Big Ems chatted up a Naval Officer to give us directions. ...
