The week of flip flopping decision making

... the budget out so I can work with them. Anyway. Wednesday of that week Alessia and I were supposed to go to Garda Lake, but she got a job and wasn't able to. So, Friday came, and I decided "I'm not going to sit around here another minute. I'll go by myself." And am I glad I did that.

I briefly looked at the train schedules before I rushed out the door to catch the bus into Brescia. I got to the station, bought my ticket, and waited ...

Madonna della Bruna Festival

While staying in Matera, we were lucky enough to be present for the annual festival, held on the 2nd July, where the town celebrates its patron, the Madonna della Bruna (the Brown Madonna). The festival starts at dawn, with Mass in the Cathedral, and culminates in the evening, when the statue of the Madonna della Bruna is taken from its Cathedral home and is raised onto a large papier-mâché float. A colourful procession winds it's ...

The bittersweet symphony entry

... salespeople would follow me upstairs, which made me uncomfortable, but they didn't glare at me like this woman. It felt like that time I was falsely accused of shoplifting, and I was so ****** off I left, biting my lip from telling her to back off, knowing she probably wouldn't understand the words but could recognize the tone. I bought bread for lunch then got home, in a worse mood than before I left. I told Luisa about the shoe lady, so she said ...

Lago di Garda

... the way to Garda were beautiful. Once we arrived at Lago Di Garda we walked around the town and visited some more shops and ordered a cappuccino and a coca-cola light. On our way back to Reggiolo we once again traveled the Autostrada and safely arrived back to our town. We stopped at the local Coop (another grocery in town) and picked up a few items so we could have dinner in. We had hard rolls with ham and cheese and finished off our meal with some gelato.
COLOGNE

AMSTERDAM was not that nice.....bikes everywhere, they run you over if you don't get out of there way......70,000 bikes the guide told us and 10% are stolen every week. It starts.

Departed Dublin around 07:30, first stop Italy for the wedding. Arrived in Malcesine for lunch. Checked into hotel Alpino, a great little spot, right in the centre of the town, chilled for a while then caught up with friends who were already settled in.
Weather was a bit of a mixed bag, but we still had enough sunshine to make the most of our time. We got the ferry across Lake Garda to visit Limone for the amazing invisible market and ...

Trento at last

The train change in Verona went much smoother this time. I knew what I had to do, and I had an assigned seat on this train. I was in a cab with 4 or 5 other people and luckily they were traveling light because I took up the entire luggage rack above their heads. As the train pulled out of the Verona station and started heading north, the mountains rose up around the train. I was amazed at the steepness and beauty, they were definitely different than any I had ...

... as the passenger side mirror and front wheel arch brushed the wall of a building. With the damage bill for that, on top of the speeding fines, fast turning this into a very expensive long weekend, I tried to be philosophical and remember that in the many times I’d hired a car this was the first time I’d ever damaged one. My number had to come up at some point, and it was probably a healthy way to have my driving self-confidence knocked down ...
