      ... see. We went to the theatre which was built in 2nd century BC and looks really grand. According to the audio guide it could sit 1500 people, I really don't know how that would happen unless you had 3 people on each knee! Next to the theatre is the temple of Isis which is gorgeous. We saw the grand house of Menander and the baths in there which are very pretty. All the findings from this house are in the Naples museum which was a bit disappointing. The amphitheatre ...

      ... been dormant for over 2000 years prior to erupting and there is evidence of earthquake damage in 62 AD. What an experience to walk along the roman roads. Large paving stones with raised footpaths on each side. At intervals along the road there are raised stepping stone for pedestrians crossing the road as the roads were full of sewerage a and rubbish ( maybe this is where the Italian people developed the habit of littering ).       ... trip as the captain worked the boat. I felt like a little kid who was invited to meet the pilot on the airplane! I got to see how they work the boat, back it up with computers and cameras and how the crew worked together. That was pretty cool.       ... Very bouncy. Dan had his wrist bands on and got along pretty well, altho we were both ready to get out at the top. With 1000' to go we walked along the hillside on a gravel path with a rope railing until we reached the crater. REWARD!! The views from the top were spectacular and that's an understatement!
