... took in a great digestif after dinner called Marc de Beaune, a spirit distilled from local wines.

All said it was a great dinner and even after the conversion it would have cost us less than a dinner at the Keg back home and the food was sooooo much better.

Our last dinner in France was great and I'm sure that all that food will help is sleep well ...

... in Belgium! Eeks!

Lastly, even though I felt slightly inconvenienced about nothing being open, I understand the importance of Armistice Day (and Remembrance Day back home). Especially after being at Juno beach only a few days ago. The Europe Josh and I are enjoying right now would never be the same if not for the sacrifices made by the men and women who served.

We will remember them.

... I decided to order the grilled duck breast. For entrée I had a goats cheese and ham dish while David had a delicious Salmon & Lobster in aspic. I expected my entrée to be just ham and cheese placed simply on the plate (obviously I had no clue what I was ordering!) but two pieces were served as like a crunchy in between croquette/spring roll. They were melt in your mouth and very tasty.

The main meal of duck breast was the BEST I have ever tasted. ...

... was kind of hidden and cars wizzing by would not have been an issue, HOWEVER I made the mistake of not checking the canal and did not notice a large barge boat meandering slowly along. David yelled this out right at the last minute so I did not have an opportunity to do anything other than squat down as low as I possibly could in an attempt to hide. ... We tasted four wines. Between each wine they gave us some delicious ham bread to clean our palate. We stopped on the way back to take pictures of the vineyard.

Most of the wineries are still owned by Hospices de Beaune, founded in 1443 as a hospital for the poor and later the rich too. Of course they were segregated. But the beds for the poor were very nice. I wish our emergency rooms looked so good. Nicolas ...
