... trip. If you get a chance to hop on a small barge in the heart of Burgundy, do it. We are home in Kentucky but ready for another barge trip. ... unusually high, with water coming over the lock gates. Not a problem, except when the water is high, the bridges suddenly seem real low. Our last bridge before docking was a low one. Moving slowly through with a lot of doubting onlookers, the barge made it under the bridge without impact. There might have been a couple of inches of clearance. Not much ...

... western Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands.The dukes were great patrons of the arts, so Dijon was a major centre of Gothic and early Renaissance music, painting, and sculpture. With its lovely buildings, its pedestrianised streets and calm atmosphere it has made for a nice day out, especially as the rain forecast for today did not materialise.


Tomorrow, with rain again forecast, it is back on the bikes and on with our journey.

We have been so fortunate to have spent the past three nights in Beaune, in the heart of the Burgundy wine region. We stayed at a fabulous B&B called "Les Chambres de l'Imprimerie". It used to be an old printing mill, but it's now owners Marie and Sebastien have done such an amazing job of renovating it into their family home along with two private guest suites.
