... complement the rich meal. Because our day started so early, we returned to the hotel close to 3:00pm, and had the afternoon and evening free to rest and tour the city on our own. With all the food and wine we have been drinking, we decided to have only gelato for dinner tonight! So many of you asked why there was no gelato picture yesterday. With driving and eating and then driving and eating some more, there was honestly no time (or room) for gelato yesterday. So, to answer ...

Today we left the villa early and started our 4 hour drive toward Emilia-Romagna and Parma. We stopped at a rest stop off the autostrada at the half-way point--it was unlike any rest stop we have in the States. A quick coffee and some shopping later, we were on our way to Parma for lunch. We had a "light lunch" (by Italian standards) at Osteria della Stazione Felino, a lovely restaurant with fantastic food. We started with a pastry filled with ...

A moving belt moves every 19 minutes to a new station where a particular job is done on the car. Pressure! That was V8's and V12's are moved along every 72 mins. 31 cars are produced ...

Woke to the amazing view of Lake Lucerne which was promptly covered by fog in about 10 minutes! Amazing how quick the fog came down but thankfully by the time we were ready to go out the fog had lifted. We decided to explore the town and walked along the wooden bridge covered in flowers and found a cafe called Heini which served a great breakfast of a milky muesli bread, cheese, ham and croissants. Bought ...

... stop was at a home where Balsamic vinegar has been made for 100 years. This is aged for either 12 or 24 years before being bottled and tastes nothing like the supermarket versions. The vinegar is aged in 5 barrels of different sizes and in this family each member has their own set of barrels. The tour ended with a generous amount of food and wine as well as balsamic tastings. No need for dinner ...
