... were fab...really nice day walking around. Jason decided to watch villa on the internet instead of going to local french soccer game. they lost 2-1, maybe its better if he doesn't watch as they seemed to do better the last few games when he wasn't watching. Had a really good dinner tonight, regional specialty (crepes again) with apple cider.
heading south again tomorrow, and we'll see how far we get and where we end up.
Ok, so we arrived in Nantes....bit of a nightmare to park, but all good. Found a very centrally located budget hotel (1 star) - cheap and cheerful. We had booked the small room, but as that turned out to be on the fifth floor, we opted for the luxury room (an additional 4 euros a night) on the first floor. Is quite big, with ensuite bathroom. Well, actually, its more like the room is ensuite to the bathroom as when u open the door to the room u walk right into the ...
Nantes, Pays de la Loire, France jamieandjason... in the middle. Anyways, we only spent about an hour in town, was not too lively. I think we made the lady's day at the tourist office as we were probably her only clients that day....then back in the car heading south......i keep asking jason if he's ******* on the drive down when the top is down as we have gone through some really stinky patches, but he is blaming the cows in the countryside that we are passing....not sure, do u think it was the cows or jason?????
... 4) gaze as the sky turns from grey to white to peach until finally golden shafts of light pierce through the trees…and the list goes on and on!
Amazingly the sky was clear blue by 9am. The last few mornings it has taken until noon before the fog has burned off. We’re in for some scorching days ahead, but this is what we’ve been waiting for!
Decided to veer off the canal about 50km before ...
... well, I'm sure I'll catch another game sometime soon. At least France can't kill my mood completely. 1/27/09 Horrible, horrible children. Seriously. In one class I literally sat among the class and waited until they shut up. Too bad this never actually happened. Then one girl went up to red and then fought with me about how unfair I was being and was saying that I wasn't using the stoplight system right. I literally yelled in her face. The ...
Nantes, Pays de la Loire, France mamakarpus... don't understand about France. I'm so glad I read a lot of books about this before I came over here. In the US, you can expect and demand that things happen for you in a timely fashion. Usually getting mad or yelling makes things move faster. Being aggressive is a good thing at home. Here in France, aggressiveness has the opposite effect. It just makes the French people mad and they are less inclined to help you. You have to go in and act like you're terribly sorry to bother them, but ...
Bouguenais, Pays de la Loire, France mamakarpus11/17/08 Continued My afternoon classes were as I expected them, for the most part. My favorite class is learning so much so fast it's awesome. I love them. For some reason though there was something wrong with the bathrooms and there was a disgusting smell in the school the whole afternoon. I thought I was going to throw up it was so bad. Oh well. These classes were interesting though. In the second class they talked way too much and didn't learn very much, and I was ...
Nantes, France mamakarpus... some clean clothes. After that I just went back to my room, made lunch, then took a shower. Eugenie and I are supposed to meet today but who knows if that'll actually happen. She's not very social. I asked her to hang out Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday but she always said no. She texted me a little bit ago and we picked a place to meet up today so we'll see if it happens. Little does she know I'm going to continue to stalk her until we actually do hang out. Haha We'll see how the day goes.
Nantes, France mamakarpus... to the bus stop, I found a closer stop and waited there for a while. My bus came right up and right past me at the stop. I guess I didn't realize that I had to signal him over. So I walked to the Croix Jeannette stop where I'd been that morning. I knew it was the end of the line so there'd be a bus there. Little did I know that all the high school students were getting out at that exact time and would be on the same bus as me. It was so awful. I felt like an old lady. It was ...
Nantes, France mamakarpus... In the Europe class M. Launay has just been giving us a history of the idea of Europe and I pretty much knew all the history he brought up already (just sort of an overview of European history), so it wasn't too hard, and anyway I've already studied the EU in two other classes, so I'm not too worried about that one. The French class is a little boring, but it will be good for me and Mme de Pous seems like she'll be really good. For some reason my management ...
