We woke to torrential rain. In fact much of the night was torrential rain so it was no surprise we were next to a very large puddle. After breakfast in the camp common room we were sent to Bages , a tiny village where, to our amazement, there was a bike shop with the right size tyre and inner tube for P&Ps tandem - phew! Then onwards for a day crossing the Medoc. The highlight ...

We wanted to have a day or so on a campsite. It's a bit more relaxing than an aire and you get more space. We also wanted to go into Bordeaux and there aren't any suitable aires. We had a nice meal outside the town walls before walking back up through the town to ...

... room, I quietly broke away and made my way to the entry of the avenue of trees. It's the most perfect place for a stroll or picnic and nap on a hot day. I imagine a white rabbit in a tweed coat with a fob watch scurry across the grass muttering I'm late! I'm late!

Unfortunately, our tour was complete and we began our way back to Bordeaux. The countryside was spectacular, wild cosmos growing with a pocket of moths flittering above them. Tania and I ...

... morning. We drove to Moulins, which was out of our way but the only big town around. However the supermarket where we'd hoped to get a new wheel for Barry's bike wasn't open (Sunday). We found a park and walked around the historic quarter which was nice. It had a cathedral and the first Italian Renaissance building in France. We stopped in the little town of Chevagnes for lunch. The Aire was beautifully landscaped and since there was no one else there too good ...
