How Nice...

... steps with lots of shaded areas that helped you feel cool as you walked up. On the way to the top you can see the remains of a church built in the 13th century to replace a dilapidated church that was originally built in the 5th century. Near the top of the hill are bits and pieces of the castle and at the very top you can get a panoramic view of the city of Nice and it's coastline. There was also a waterfall somewhere and I could hear it when I was walking around ...

Nice and Cote d'Azur

1. We spent the first day walking around Nice and getting our bearings. Having an apartment to ourselves allowed us to get takeaways and reheat in the oven if required, so we made full use of this facility. Grilled chicken, bread, cheese and wine were on the menu for all days. It was quite difficult to economise on food in Italy. There is only so much take away Pizza you can consume and sitting down for dinner requires you to pay a ...

Our first stop this morning was the hilltop town of Saint Paul Da Vaunce. A beautiful medieval town with narrow, uneven, cobbled streets. A magical town around 830am with no others around yet but our group. We spent about an hour wandering the narrow streets filled with boutique shops and lots of places to buy sweets such as nougat. We bought 100g of cherry nougat which was quite expensive but very smooth and delicious. As we made our ...

Bus, Train, Plane and Goodbye Spain

... of the city where we are staying is busy and bustling with lots of eateries and happening going on - loads of people everywhere and a non car strip through the middle down to the sea which is nice for lack of traffic noise. The hotel is a boutique style, not flash but within budget and clean with a lovely friendly English speaking welcome.

Looking forward to exploring tomorrow with a big day in Nice before departing for Italy the day after!
