... for you have) that I had faintly learned in the past. My Spanish education from middle school to college was based both on standard Latin American and Continental Spanish (ie, the language of Spain), not Argentine Spanish. Luckily the variation was easily recognizable and comprehensible.
Lovely Springtime in Buenos Aires
My hotel was very centrally located at the corner of Avenida Córdoba and San Martín St, right next to one of Argentina's principal and ...
... t many open, but we settled on one that was a kind of bar/club, sat outside and had some drinks, before proceeding inside. It was hideously smoky, and there wasn't really anyone fit. Haley soon got tired and went back home, while me and Troy decided to persevere a bit longer. We asked around to see if there were any clubs open, but it turned out there weren't. Grrr. We hadn't been to any of Buenos Aires' super clubs yet, and had foolishly saved this ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina alastair6... 1940s and it looks the part. It was beautifully lit up this evening. I'll have photos for you tomorrow.
I spent about 4 hrs waiting at the domestic airport in BA and took a walk down the "malecon": no I didn't misspell it! The photos are from the river (yes, believe it....at its widest it is about 75 kilometers!). More from Iguazu tomorrow.
... that we stayed in for a few days. They were amazing!!!! It felt like they were our Spanish mum and dad, really looking after us! They spoke all the time in Spanish though so that we would learn and only translated in English when we really got stuck. Some people pay a fortune for these lessons but we had them for free and learnt so much in those few days. Its the best hostel in Cordoba and would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn Spanish and feel at home ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina philandkatrinaRevolution was in the air during the late 1700s and early 1800s, as the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment led people to challenge authority. First, the United States, then France, then Spain's colonies in the New World's rebelled against their monarchs. Spain's colonies also had another element in support of their independence ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina riversbeyondThe first week of school is done, I am still alive, and actually pretty excited about the classes I am taking. At first I had 3 classes in English, 1 Spanish language class, and 1 class in Spanish, but after taking a class in Spanish I've realized that it isn't as hard as I thought, and so I'll probably pick up a few more. My first class Monday afternoon was a comparative economics of Latin America. My professor was a moderately deranged ex-banker who ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina larkinrose... neighborhood (which consequently, I LOVE!) and get to know the people and culture. I also had the opportunity to meet a small part of my host mother's family which was extremely cool! On Tuesday the 17th I officially began my program orientation. There are around 170 people in my program, many of whom I met, and many of whom seem very nice. The orientation lasts 2ish weeks and consists of spanish classes, expectations, history, culture, classes, health etc, etc... For me the ...

Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina euniceandbyoung... including a ... Hooters????!?!?! A little bit out of place! We walked around for a bit, but it was getting hot out - so much for our initial arrival in BA, when we thought that it wasn't that hot or humid! We stayed on the shady side of the waterfront buildings for the most part, but then crossed the water to the other side, where we found a nice little cafe called Froilan, for a drink and more importantly, some shade. We chilled for ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina pwong... I thought it was really wrong of him to say that to the crowd. Call me ethnocentric, but I don't think Argentines have a lot of room to talk in terms of government. My host mom is taking her money out of the bank this week because an advisor told her the government may seize it. I'm sure he was just trying to throw out some populist statements and rile up the crowd, but I thought it was irresponsible of him. He is more than old ...
